HEALTH

CIPLA PALLIATIVE CARE AND TRAINING CENTRE (CPC), WARJE, PUNE

The flagship initiative of Cipla Foundation

It was to support patients and their families in

their most difficult of times, beyond medicines

and treatment, that Cipla founded the Palliative

Care & Training Centre in 1997 in Warje, Pune.

Since then, we have reached out to over 14,000

patients with free-of-cost care.

Beyond direct care at CPC, we have been growing our focus in palliative care by partnering with organisations across India.

OUR APPROACH TO PALLIATIVE CARE

We believe that palliative care is ‘Responsive Care’.

It is care that is responsive to the needs of patients and

their families.

The goal of palliative care is to provide the best possible

quality of life, at every stage of

treatment, starting from diagnosis.

• Our 55-bedded Centre is designed to personalise care

and exude an atmosphere of peace and serenity.

• Our Centre is built on the concept of an 'Aangan‘ or an

open courtyard, to foster a sense of community.

• Our wards are named after flowers to bring cheer and

comfort in a medical care setting.

• There are no bed numbers, our patients are known by

their first names.

DESIGNED TO CARE

OUR UNIQUE FAMILY CARE APPROACH

Our service is deeply rooted in the Indian ethos

of family and community.

• A family member stays with the patient at our

Centre and is equally cared for by our team.

• We train family members to give them the

confidence and skills to look after their loved

ones, when they leave our Centre to go back

home.

• In addition, family members receive ongoing

emotional and psychosocial support including

much-needed bereavement counselling.

• Patients and their families are looked

after by a multi-disciplinary team that

includes a doctor, nurse, pain

specialist, nutritionist, physiotherapist

and medical social worker.

• In addition, they are cared for by our

extended support team as well as by a

thriving community of volunteers.

• The integrated team works closely to

influence both the experience of care as

well as to maximise the quality of lives

for patients and their families.

we offer much-needed emotional comfort

for patients and their caregivers through

engaging activities like art, craft, music and

games.

• Our varied efforts aim to help them cope

with the all-consuming demands of a

serious illness.

and families enjoy these moments, with

the feeling of being at home.

TRAINING PALLIATIVE CARE PROFESSIONALS

Our unique model of family care, in-patient

facilities and multi-disciplinary team makes us the

preferred site for several state, national and

international level training programmes in

palliation for doctors, nurses, social workers and

volunteers.

We support patients and their loved ones by working with like-minded palliative care organizations across the country.

Our effort is to ensure that palliative care is made accessible to all those living with serious illnesses including cancer, respiratory ailments, cerebral palsy and more.
