We Exist to Share Christ!

IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE INFORMATION about St. Peter’s and its activities, please speak with one of the pastors to arrange an appointment by calling the church office at 920-743-4431.

Jesus Lives to be the Only Way to Heaven Jesus proclaimed – “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6) There is only one way to the Father, and that way is a person. He does not say, ‘I show you the way,’ like a second Moses, but I AM the way. He doesn’t say, ‘I have the truth,’ like another Elijah, but I AM the truth. Not only ‘I lead unto life,’ as one of His apostles, but I AM the life. This is your Savior, your Jesus – the Way, the Truth, the Life.

SILENT PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP:

Almighty Father, everlasting God, Your Son has revealed You to me as a merciful Lord. Give to me Your Holy Spirit, that I may believe in Him whom You have sent and do the greater works He has told us we will do in His name. Lord God, You have promised to build up Your Church to be a holy priesthood, that Your people might offer the spiritual sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving acceptable to You. Bless us and bring us all back together again soon. Be with each of us as we serve You and each other in Jesus. In His name, I pray. Amen.

INVOCATION .

M: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you

C: And also with you.

CONFESSION 1 JOHN 1:8-9

M: We have come into the presence of God, who created us to love and serve Him as His dear children. But we have disobeyed Him and deserve only His wrath and punishment. Therefore, let us confess our sins to Him and plead for His mercy.

All: Merciful Father in heaven, I am altogether sinful from birth. In countless ways I have sinned against You and do not deserve to be called Your child. But trusting in Jesus, my Savior, I pray: Have mercy on me according to Your unfailing love. Cleanse me from my sin, and take away my guilt.

ABSOLUTION John 20:21-23

M: God, our heavenly Father, has forgiven all your sins. By the perfect life and innocent death of our Lord Jesus Christ, He has removed your guilt forever. You are His own dear child. May God give you strength to live according to His will.

C: Amen.

PRAYER AND PRAISE Oh, Taste and See

M: In the peace of forgiveness, let us praise the Lord.

PRAYER OF THE DAY .

M: Let us pray.

O God, You form the minds of Your faithful people into a single will. Make us love what You command and desire what You promise, that among the many changes of this world, our hearts may ever yearn for the lasting joys of heaven; through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

THE WORD OF GOD Jesus Lives to Be the Only Way to Heaven!

FIRST SCRIPTURE LESSON ACTS 17:1-12 He Lives as the true God

1 When Paul and Silas had traveled through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. 2 As was his custom, Paul went to the Jews, and on three Sabbath days he led them in a discussion from the Scriptures, 3 explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. He also said, “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ.” 4 Some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great number of God-fearing Greeks and more than a few of the prominent women.5 But the Jews became jealous and gathered from the marketplace some wicked men, who formed a mob and started a riot in the city. They rushed to Jason’s house and searched for Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the mob. 6 When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city officials, shouting, “These men, who have stirred up trouble all over the world, have come here too, 7 and Jason has welcomed them as guests! They are all acting contrary to Caesar’s decrees, saying that there is another king, Jesus!” 8 The crowd and the city officials were stirred up when they heard these things. 9 They took a security bond from Jason and the others and then let them go.10 That same night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the Jewish synagogue. 11 Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians. They received the word very eagerly and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these things were so. 12 Many of them believed, along with more than a few prominent Greek women and men.

SOLO A MOTHER’S PRAYER by Rebekah Thoma

I look in their faces, in their innocent eyes. I tell them it’s ok, please don’t cry.

Your dear Savior loves you, He died for you.

His arms will uphold you and carry you through. [Refrain]

I see them dear Jesus, the steps that they take. I want to be with them when they make mistakes.

But I know dear Jesus, when I can’t be there. You’ll be their direction. Your compass You’ll share.

[Refrain]

I hurt when they hurt, Lord. I cry when they cry. How dearly I love them. How I want them to fly.

Fill them with Your Spirit, to serve You well. Give peace and protection, in Your arms they dwell.

[Refrain]

Hold hands with them, Jesus, and lead them through life. Their faith ever leading their days and their nights.

Forgive them their sins, Lord, when they choose to stray. So they will be with me in heaven someday. . [Refrain] Refrain:

It’s a mother’s prayer, be with them Lord. Help them to dance, help them to soar. Give them peace and knowledge, Lord. You will direct, You will restore. I trust You Lord… It’s a mother’s prayer.

SECOND SCRIPTURE LESSON I PETER 2:4-10 He Lives to make you His people

4 As you come to him, the Living Stone, rejected by men but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, like living stones, are being built as a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, in order to bring spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For it says in Scripture: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who believes in him will certainly not be put to shame.7 Therefore, for you who believe, this is an honor. But for those who do not believe: The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone, 8 and, a stone over which they stumble and a rock over which they fall. Because they continue to disobey the word, they stumble over it. And that is the consequence appointed for them.9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, the people who are God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 At one time you were not a people, but now you are the people of God. At one time you were not shown mercy, but now you have been shown mercy.

Verse of the Day John 14:6

Alleluia. Alleluia. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Jesus said, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life.” Alleluia!

GOSPEL JOHN 14:1-12 He Lives as your only Savior

1 “Do not let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to be with me, so that you may also be where I am. 4 You know where I am going, and you know the way.” 5 “Lord, we don’t know where you are going,” Thomas replied, “so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. 7 If you know me, you would also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” 8 “Lord,” said Philip, “show us the Father, and that is enough for us.” 9 “Have I been with you so long,” Jesus answered, “and you still do not know me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I am telling you I am not speaking on my own, but the Father who remains in me is doing his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me. Or else believe because of the works themselves. 12 “Amen, Amen, I tell you: The one who believes in me will do the works that I am doing. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. M: The Gospel of Our Lord

THE BLESSING Numbers 6:24-26

M: Brothers and sisters, go in peace. Live in harmony with one another. Serve the Lord with gladness.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.

The Lord look on you with favor and give you peace.

Closing Hymn 145:5 – Jesus Lives! The Victory’s Won

5 Jesus lives! And now is death

But the gate to life immortal; This shall calm my trembling breath When I pass its gloomy portal. Faith shall cry, as fails each sense: “Jesus is my confidence!”

Pastor Home Visits: Last summer, Pastor Schroeder

and Pastor Sauer began making home visits to every member household of St. Peter’s. They sought to visit all members whose names began with A through F. They wereable to visit with most, some didn’t wish a visit, others, they were not able to set up a time to visit. The visits went well and they were looking to continue visiting the next quarter of the congregation in the summer of 2020. However, with the issues surrounding the pandemic, they will be postponing their visits. Please be assured they will continue these visits when safety allows. Just a reminder, these visits are simply causal visits – be it 10 minutes or 2 hours - and are purely an effort to know and serve you better. Thank you and your pastors look forward seeing you soon after this pandemic is over!

Bulletin Printers Needed Over the years we have been blessed with

those individuals that wanted to serve the Lord but do not want to sit in a

meeting. Year ago, Paul Eggert and Bob Johnson printed in a storage room

downstairs, later on Wally Peterson and Richard Lindemeyer served as

printers in the church office. Over the last few years, it has been Tom and

Chris Whipple making the bulletin copies. We are thankful for all those that

have served St. Peter’s as printers. Tom and Chris are retiring from printing

and so we have the opportunity for someone or two people to be printers. If

you are interested, please contact Kari Anderson in the church office to find

out the details. When we are past our “stay at home days” we will NEED

bulletin printers once again. Why not call and volunteer for this now?

Call for St. Peter’s Graduates If you are a student who is graduating

from high school or college this year or you know of someone who is graduating, please contact the church office (743-4432) so we can acknowledge their accomplishments.
