What hormones are produced?
The ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen- a steroid hormone that produces female characteristics
for a human Progesterone- released by the corpus luteum to prepare the
uterus for pregnancy
What do the hormones do?
• Regulate the menstrual cycle and pregnancy. Development of female body characteristics,
breasts body shape body hair
Feedback mechanisms & antagonistic hormones
The antagonistic hormone would be melatonin The hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis is a critical part in the
development and regulation of a number of the body's systems, such as the reproductive and immune systems. Example giving birth causes hypothalamus to secrete oxytocin

What happens when glands don’t operate properly?
Hypogonadism is when the ovaries are not producing enough sex hormones. This can usually cause Turner Syndrome, gonadal dysgenesis, and galactosemia.
To treat this, a doctor must replace the hormones in the ovaries to try and copy the normal hormone production.
