Are we or aren’t we?

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) apply to all 

employers, employees and commercial motor vehicles transporting property or passengers in interstate commerce.

Commercial Motor Vehicle

• CMV‐ transports persons or property in interstate commerce to further a commercial enterprise, and is:

– Over 10,001 pounds GVWR, GCWR, or actual weight, or

– Transports passengers• For Hire: more than 8

• Private: more than 15, or

– Transport Hazardous Materials that requires placarding
