We want to make an investigation on the potentials of architecture as an interface of a synesthe-tic like process of sensory overload. We think that cognitive states can be inducted, controled by technical-constructive attributes.Backing-up the Churchil’s sentence “we shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us”, we ex-tend it and put it up to date to achive an enriched reality through a non predefined scaled inter-vention through which we can destabilized the social and education prejudices.
“there are no limits to the mind unless we acknowledge them” Albert Einstein.
“A red rings louder in your eye and a taste of blue lingers at your fingertips. You have a neighbor whose consistently green voice grates against his consistently deep blue suit. Nobody seems to understand. There are things you hear, things that you touch - that you cannot talk about. You don’t believe yourself to be mad, or if you are, you no longer believe in what the word implies. You don’t believe you’re hallucinating...hallucinations should make less sense. This...this is an abun-dance of sense. “ - Omar Kamel
“Each number had its own personality—masculine or feminine, perfect or incomplete, beautiful or ugly. This feeling modern mathematics has deliberately eliminated, but we still find overtones of it in fiction and poetry. Ten was the very best number ...” Pythagoras
AMBITION TO HOLD A WORKSHOP

T.E.S.I. (The Exploding Synesthesic Inevitable) is a continuous laboratory of experimentation.Through projection, audio, smells, texture and taste instalations, we will experiment with percep-tion trying to distort senses giving way to new neuronal conections that will enrich our knowledge of reality. We will create interfaces through which we will experiment individual or colective senso-rial perceptions.Synesthesia: from the Ancient Greek is a neurologically-based condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. For example, a synesthete can hear colors, see sounds and taste while touching something with a determined texture. It is not that they make an association or that they think they feel it but they really feel it. Synesthesia is a common effect of psicodelic drugs like LSD, mescali-ne or some tropical mushrooms.
We will divide the workshop in two parts: one theoretical (think-tank) and one practical, feeding each other all along the workshop. We will allow students to participate in both of them making a richer experience. -The theoretical part will consist of lectures, synopsis of research (precedents &examples), video projections, brain-stormings and proposals, generating a wide library of information that will work like the ingredients of a recipe with unknown results.
-The practical part of the workshop will be divided in two: >>small interventions as a result of the participants investigations on the city that will mess with inhabitants and >>T.E.S.I.I. (The Exploding Synesthesic Inevitable Interface) is bigger light-construction of around 30 m2 that will be erected in the workplace and moved into the city for the experience of the locals. The “Interface” shoud be easily transportable (bike plus trolley) and removable.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
.03
The new generation of urban and social identities in the modern cities are being fragmented due to the new media technologies and communication systems, transforming the information flows into the frame of all those processes. The development of these big cities in the consumist society are ruled by image they project abroad. This citybranding is a mask and our intention is to get to the core of the city,to the sensations and experiences it can produce.
Taking advantage of the sensory-loaded qualities of Manchester, our T.E.S.I.I. offers the oppor-tunity to explore the city and ourselves through a synesthetic induced processes multiplying the information we can receive.
The workshops is going to be a colective experiment that is constantly growing, infecting the urbanfabric Planteamos el workshop como un experimento colectivo en el que el radio de acción va creciendo a medida que avance, convirtiéndose en un virus expansivo que afecte a los habitantes de Man-chester.
