Over the last several

weeks of work-ing on this fine publication I have finally started to de-velop a routine. During this time our pages have grown from 8 to 12 with the addition of a new monthly calendar and the introduction of “Oh Boy!” Music section.

As this publication grows and our content continues to develop my aim is to provide you with a con-sistency and resourceful-ness that you won’t find anywhere else.

Recently, I was asked to participate as a judge in the Texaco Country Showdown at Spinnaker Beach Club in Panama City Beach, Fl. It was a chance to see friends and possibly get a glimpse at what some Industry Executives are calling “The Face of New Coun-try”. The competition

brought out contestants from across Florida. Lo-cal radio station Hank FM 103.5 hosted the event with the support of Melissa Miller and John Sheftic.

It was a difficult com-petition to judge with some very talented acts on stage but when all was said and done only one person gets to take it to the national level. I personally would have liked to see a local star get that chance but after the score sheets were tallied the winner was undisputed. A young and talented singer-song-writer out of West Palm Beach, Florida named Emily Brooke stole the show. This is the second year in a row Brooke has won the Florida State Title of “Best New Country Music Act” at the Texaco Country Showdown. She will be going on again this year to represent Florida in the national competition.

Congratulations to Emily and to all the contestants for putting on a great show. I look forward to seeing you all on stage next time. -Enjoy!
