The New Eastro Carpet The pitch was used on Sunday with a Mixed social run around and played OK. The pitch has now been swept with a rotary brush to work the sand further into the carpet and the carpet edge trimmed and re-fixed into the edge grippers. The pitch is now being brought into general use. ======================================
The Clubhouse Moisture checks are being carried out and repainting will commence shortly. Final selection of the new surfaces for the bar and badminton hall floor is being made. The club to be fully usable by Club Weekend even though it is likely that some work will still be outstanding.

Chair Chat The Olympics and anticipation of Coops and Lenny’s wedding on Saturday has been the main feature of my week. Setting the alarm for the early hours to watch some medals for GB does take it out the system but always worthwhile. I love the Olympics and seeing GB battle away for medals. It's that time every 4 years when we become experts on sports we never watch from the last Olympics of course. The Hockey guys are underperforming and the ladies on track for a top 4 place and looking good for a medal. The new pitch was given a tester session on Sunday and received good reviews. We are looking for the final snagging items to be finalised this week. The Clubhouse is almost dried out and the repairs will commence shortly so the bar is in full use again. Next week sees Loudy run our Freesport – Play an Olympic sport week for 6 to 16 year olds so it's great to see the Mayor for London continuing to support our initiatives to get new boys and girls playing hockey. Please sign up for Club weekend as player or to help out umpiring with plenty of chances to blow a whistle and get back into the swing of it. Lots of fun and the Official Pitch opening on the Saturday morning. The new Premiership season starts on Saturday – can the Saints improve upon their last 3 seasons when they finished 8
th, 7
th and last season 6
th? What about a
Champions League place? Unlikely but you never know. Personally I always think the relegation battle starts on the first day of the season. Rob

Training M1s training will be starting on Thursday 25th August 19:30-21:30 at the Eastro. M2s training will be starting on Thursday 11th August 19.30-21.30 at the Eastro. Men’s Club training starts Wed 7 Sept 19:30-21:30 at the Eastro. Fitness If you want to get in shape for pre-season training you can attend fitness on a Monday evening run by Gary Telfer (Jackie's husband). It is 8:30-9:30 and is currently taking place outside on the fields around the clubhouse as the building will be undergoing repairs due to the recent flooding. The sessions cost £3. If you want more info contact Jackie: [email protected] Kit Some of you will know that TK no longer produce the club shirts in the thick material we have had for a number of years. We moved to new fabric technology in the top 3 sides last season and it would be great if we could get as many of the club members all wearing the same style shirt. These are available from the Pro Shop Brentford, see attached link http://proshopsport.com/eastcote-hc-12-c.asp
The EastcoNet 3 13th August 2016
If you are an existing member with an old style shirt buying a new one please remember to request your number on the reverse - a must have for league games. Most of the current members have been assigned a club number please don’t just get a number printed as you may end up with the same number as someone in the same team as you. For new members please contact David Cooper (Coops) to request your own number. Kam from the Pro Shop will be down at the Club Weekend on Sunday 4th September with sample shirts so you can try them on for size. Dates for your diaries 3/4 September - Club Weekend - Mixed tournament & Saturday Social 10, 17, 24 September - Friendlies all teams 1st Oct – First League Games and Club AGM in the evening 17 December - Diamond Jubilee Club Dinner - more details to follow Thanks Coops

As manager of the England over 65’s who have just won European Gold at Southgate let me share with you one of our secrets, that could benefit all of us who play or have played sport. It would in fact benefit anyone with issues around back pain, arthritis, and/or lack of energy.
We have been supported by “Xenca“ for the past 4 years who have recommended two products to us and which the majority of the squads are using. I swear by them. The first is Collagen and the second Five a day + V. Both are natural products. If you have a club member in the squad talk to them about it. If interested to research or buy to try, go to www.xencahockey.com Peter Crayford England GGM Manager

Eastcote Hockey Club will provide qualified coaches with up to date CRB checks and first aid certificates. Every precaution has
been taken to ensure safety. Hockey is a sport using hard moving objects. From time to time children will sustain injury. Protection,
such as shin guards and mouth guards are recommended and should be provided by the parent/guardian. If a coach feels that a
practise or game cannot be completed safely without protective items, your child will be asked to sit out that part, if not equipped.
We may use video for coach education purpose and photos may be taken for the local paper. Would you please tick the box giving
your agreement? By signing the form you will have been expected to have read this statement. In the case of emergency,
parents/guardians will be expected to be available. The timings of session are strict, children should be collected on time.
Email address
We can supply sticks, but would ask all to bring shin guards and a gum shield (No gum shield
would not allow a participant to take part in certain routines or games) Clothing that suits
the weather conditions, plus sun cream (he says, hopefully) We will play in the rain but have
the club changing facilities and toilets available. Studded soccer boots are not allowed on the
all-weather surface.
