First Baptist gets face lift

First BaptistChurch(FBC) has put the finishing touches on a remodeling project which took six months to com- plete.

Driving by the church, located on the comer of Lake Avenue and Prairie Street, you will notice the exterior work consisted of repainting all the wood, iron work, concrete facing and trim of the building, as well as chang- ing the color from dark brown to a light cream color.

The entire sanctuary was remod- eled as well.

The dark front of the sanctuary was painted ivory. Old carpet on the platform was pulled up to reveal wood flooring which was beautifully re- stored.

A new pulpit was custom-made and painted to match the light-colored floors.

New teal-colored carpet and up- holstery for the pews was installed.

A reading room, off the foyer of the sanctuary, was created and in- cludes new carpet, paint, book cases and other decorative touches.

Finally, the women's restroom in the foyer was completely remodeled and made wheelchair-accessible.
