President’s Message
OlderWiserLearning! The Comm is pleased to present OWL programs and classes for those ages 18 and older who want to learn something new. The following programs are off ered by the presenters as a service to the community, free of charge.
The year 2015 was an exciting one for the Waverly Community House. Due to the generosity of its donors and the careful stewardship of income and expenses, the Comm expanded its programming and made some much needed renovations to the building. The Comm introduced several new art and music programs last year. It hosted its fi rst Meet Your Mentor career fair (in partnership with Johnson College) and a regional piano Master Class with concert pianist Roosevelt Newson. In 2015, the Comm Kids After School Program completed its fi rst full year and the Upstairs Thrift Shop celebrated its fi rst anniversary. The Archive Project, not just a project anymore, is now open to the public by appointment and is a great place to visit for anyone interested in the history of the Comm. Renovations to the building included new paint and floors for the Comm lobby, repointing of the brick on the front exterior, installation of a handicapped restroom, new doors to replace the old ones at ground level and renovations to the archive space. There will be challenges in 2016, but thankfully we have the steadfast support of the community and volunteers and a Board of Trustees that is dedicated to the Comm and its mission of service to the Community. I invite you to visit the Comm and enjoy what it has to offer and I wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
