We trust everyone had an enjoyable summer and is all set to get back into the routine that fall brings. Did you know that Terry Fox had a mountain named after him? Mount Terry Fox is in the western range of the Canadian Rockies, about a 3 hour drive from Kamloops or a 1 hour drive from Jasper. The trek up Mount Terry Fox is not for the faint of heart and hikers participating can choose a destination: viewpoint, first sub peak, or the summit. This year at Waverly Park School we will be Moving Mountains for Terryon September 28th. In previous years, our school has donated between $600 and $800 to the Terry Fox Foundation. This year, we hope to raise $1000. Please help us by sending a minimum donation of $2 along with your childs waiver form back to the school before the 28 th . Students who bring in a donation will be given a hiker to place on the mountain on the bulletin board outside the office during the week leading up to our walk. Thank you in advance for your support! Once the morning and afternoon classes have started, all students, staff and visitors to the school are to enter and to exit through the Main Foyer doors (North Side)

All other doors are locked and are

fire exits only. Doors will be unlocked at the begin-

ning of the morning / afternoon recess period and locked again upon their completion.

All doors will be accessible to exit the

building at the start of the noon hour and at the end of the school day.

ROOM REP SIGNUP– Parent Council

We are in need of classroom Rep’s for the new school year. This is a small commitment of time required (4 times per year to assist with Pizza Days during the lunch hour). Sign-up sheet is on Bulletin Board or you can call the office @ 729-3250.

NON-LUNCH PROGRAM STUDENTS

Return time for students going home for lunch is 12:45

Upon returning to school those students are to follow all lunch program guidelines. Students are to head to the back of the school when returning and not gather at the front of the school. Use of cell phones during lunch hours is not allowed. They will be taken away and returned at the end of the day. Lunch hour activities do not start until 12:30. Students participating in these are to go home for lunch and return for 12:30.

The Waverly Park Parent Council Lunch Program is in need of Lunch Room Assistants to supervise students while they eat in the classroom and play outside on the playground. If you are interested in applying for this position please submit a resume to the Vice-Principal, Tracy Ramsey. Resumes can be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at the school office.

The Brandon School Division invites parent representatives to the Parent/Guardian/Division Advisory Committee for the 2017-2018 school year. Meetings will occur as

advertised.

Detailed information regarding the committee can be found in Policy 1020 “Parent/Guardian/Division Advisory Committee”.

If you wish to participate in this committee, please contact our office by Friday,

September 29, 2017.
