My Journey to Life- The Doctor who could not be a lawyer, but a motivational speaker

Born in the 70”s in then a small city of Francistown, I was bourn from a family of 12 siblings

under a strong Christian back ground. I was expected to attend church 3 times a week without

fail, a practice that rooted my beliefs to most Christian values, most of which I still stand by now.

I moved to the city at the age of 6, which exposed me to advanced life (at least ahead of rural

life). This also brought in challenges of urban influence as I was exposed to most evils occurring

in the city while young.

As I grew, I observed and cherished my elder brothers life who graduated as an attorney. I

developed passion for what he was doing. I remember, I sneak from home to spend time at the

customary court just behind our house) to listen to various cases. I would, later at night on my

bed, pretend to be the defendant attorney and punch holes into the prosecutor’s submissions.

Often this behavior got me into trouble as I would always have something to say when ever my

parents spoke, little did my parents know that by punishing me, they are limiting the potential

that wanted to erupt in me at an early age.

With my star rated results at junior school, I ended up in a pure science class at Mater Spei

College, obtaining yet another star rated Cambridge results. The excitement did not go far as I

could not be accepted at tertiary to study my law. I lacked the pre-requisite subjects. And that

was the end of my dream.

Against my childhood dream of being a lawyer, I was accepted at tertiary to do sciences. The first

thing I imagined was an assignment where we had to kill and bisect a rat to study the inside. I

must admit I fear blood, rat blood, but should I go on with sciences, I may one day be faced with

performing a post mortem. I couldn’t stomach that, after a few complaints I was lucky enough to

be offered a seat at the accounting school, with believe that one day I will get a seat at the law

school. I waited four years and before I knew it, I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in

Accountancy.

I was lucky with jobs; first I was administrator at the Botswana

Institute of Accountants, then the youngest Assistant finance

manager at the University of Botswana for 2 years, before I

joined the Local Enterprise Authority as a Business Advisor for 2

years. I later on assumed my most envied job as a Business Coach

at the Glen-valley Incubator for another 2 years.

Ask me about my job hopping, I will tell you of m 4 year at tertiary

school.

With all these job hopping, I realised how lucky I am to be where

I am, but I continually asked myself how many were not as lucky?

How many people are frustrated in their offices, doing jobs they

Hate?

While I hate to admit, I could not do much to help, I strongly believed

much can be done tough for kids, hence the Bizkid program and my

sturdy aspirations to change/impact lives.
