College Leadership Previous role of Rector split into President
and Provost roles. September 2014: Professor Alice Gast appointed
President succeeding Sir Keith O'Nions FRS President has focus on
outward facing activities and development The Provost (Professor
James Stirling) has responsibility for delivering and enhancing
Imperials core academic mission - the pursuit of excellence in
education, research and translation. Professor Stirling reports
directly to the President; both the President and Provost oversee
the Colleges strategic direction. Professor Alice Gast, President,
Imperial College London. An internationally renowned scholar in the
field of chemical engineering, Professor Gast was formerly
President of Lehigh University and Vice President for Research and
Associate Provost at MIT. DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

We want to be able to take the best students to study at
Imperial, irrespective of their ability to pay Our objective is to
be able to fully fund from Departmental resources >25% of all
PhD students in the Department Balance of students will be
supported on fully-sponsor funded projects We are growing a
Chemical Engineering Department Endowment fund (currently at 9
million) We are directing a significant fraction of available funds
(has reached 1million in 2015) to PhD studentships for the very
best students Applications have gone up by 100% in four years,
quality up want more! DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING The Best
