Police Community Report –
May 21st 2015
I have had a number of people
ask me about the Police chase
with the motorbike this
weekend in Mangakino. This
idiot is top of the list, so lets
start with him. Police detected
a speeding motorbike along
Lake Road and he failed to
stop. Riding through our
streets in complete disregard
for other people’s safety, this
muppet went around a corner
too fast and fell off. He was
located in tears a few streets
away, arrested and has been
held in custody. This
behaviour is certain to be life
shortening.
During the weekend we
attended a domestic incident at
a rural address. The frustrating
thing is that this is a repeat
occurrence and the people
know what to do to avoid
conflict, yet they let their
emotions keep them arguing
and acting poorly in front of
family members. It is so
simple, ‘if you are getting wild
and angry, get outside and cool
off’. We should not have to
attend and remind people how
to handle pressure.
I have seen numerous hunting
vehicles in the area and we
have already stopped several.
Hunters are reminded that if
using firearms, make sure they
are lawfully and safely used.
Make sure you lock your
vehicles and do not leave
valuables in them. The final
point to make is to ensure that
you are hunting lawfully
where you are allowed and
have a permit. The excuse of
“I just followed my dogs into
this private block” will not
wash with us and the Courts
are sick of that excuse. Your
dogs, your control.
Remember if you see anything
suspicious or wish to let us
know about vehicles with
unrestrained children, you can
do so anonymously by calling
crime stoppers on 0800 555
111. To call our office it is 07
882 9070 (office hours only).
For all noise complaints call
882 8700 (during office hours)
or 0800 275 832 (after hours).
In emergencies dial 111. For
traffic complaints call *555.
Until next week, stay safe.
