2022 Confirmation Registration

High school juniors and seniors wishing to receive the

Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Edward in 2022 must

register by making an appointment with Trevor Huster,

our Director of Religious Education. The deadline for

registration is Tuesday, August 31. In preparation for

this sacrament, all candidates must participate in classes,

a retreat, service hours and an interview. To make an

appointment, or for further information, contact Trevor

Huster by email at [email protected] or at 888-0703.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond visited

St. Edward on March 4 for a very special

event: twenty-seven (27) high school students

received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Please pray that these young men and women continue to

stay close to the Lord by using the gifts and fruits in

which they will be strengthened.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful

and kindle in them the fire of your love...

“It was a very blessed occasion to be commissioned as a

Lay Ecclesial Minister by Archbishop Aymond, Sunday,

January 31, 2021, at the 11:00 AM Mass held at St. Louis

Cathedral. I am very grateful for the support of the parish

pastors, Fr. Seiler and Fr. Joseph Man Tran, staff and

friends throughout my time in the ILEM program

(Institute for Lay Ecclesial Ministry) at Notre Dame

Seminary, Graduate School of Theology. A special

‘thank you’ goes to Fr. Kevin DeLerno, who served as

my Spiritual Director and On-Site Supervisor. I feel the

Lord led me through my academic studies and four-pillar

formation process in preparation for my new position of

service in His Church working in the parish office. I am

happy to assist in any way I can and to discuss the ILEM

program with anyone interested in learning more.”

Jackie Sofio, Parish Office Staff Secretary

Prayer for Vocations O Holy Spirit, Spirit of wisdom and divine love, impart

your knowledge, understanding, and counsel to all that

they may know the vocation wherein they can best serve

God. Give them courage and strength to follow God’s holy

will. Guide their uncertain steps, strengthen their

resolutions, shield their chastity, fashion their minds,

conquer their hearts, and lead them to the vineyards where

they will labor in God’s holy service. Amen.

World Day of Prayer for Vocations

Good Shepherd Sunday, April 25, also

known as the World Day of Prayer for

Vocations, is a day each year when we pray

with extra concern that God will send more

laborers into His harvest. We keep in prayer

and express our support for those clergy,

religious and consecrated seculars who are closest to us in

our parish: Fr. Joseph Man Tran; Fr. Kevin DeLerno;

Deacon Steve Koehler; Deacon Tim Meaut; Sister Julia

Stump, Sister Elizabeth Hebert and Sister Loan Nguyen.

Presence of the Eucharist, Wednesday, April 21, presented

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY April 11

With the canonization of St. Faustina in

April 2000, St. John Paul II declared,

The Second Sunday of Easter,

henceforth throughout the Church, will

also be called Divine Mercy Sunday.

Our Lord told St. Faustina that on that day:

"The soul that will go to confession and receive Holy

Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins

and punishment." To receive this grace of mercy on Divine Mercy Sunday,

April 11, the following is required, while in a state of

grace: 1) in any church or chapel take part in the prayers and

devotions held in honor of the Divine Mercy OR in the

presence of the Blessed Sacrament exposed or reserved in

the tabernacle, recite the Our Father and the Creed adding

a devout prayer to our Merciful Lord, such as "Merciful

Jesus, I trust in You";

2) go to confession within 20 days before or after Divine

Mercy Sunday;

3) receive Holy Communion while in a state of grace within

20 days before or after Divine Mercy Sunday;

4) pray for the intentions of the Holy Father within 20 days

before or after Divine Mercy Sunday; and

5) have the interior disposition of complete detachment from

sin, even venial sin.

Don’t miss this opportunity!

Jesus, I trust in You!

LADIES COUNCIL NEWS

Rejoice and Give Thanks !

“Rejoice in the Lord always;

again I will say, Rejoice” (Phil.4:4)

We are just finishing a season of prayer and fasting.

Hopefully, you have been able to enter in deeply in the

season of Lent. Now, the Church offers us an even

longer season of Easter to rejoice and give thanks for

so great a gift! You and I have been rescued from

death and rescued from sin! What good news that is!!!

We are offered mercy and forgiveness! Let us each

take the time to ponder what God has done for us!

Each of us can say, “He rescued me, because He

loves me!” (Psalm 18:19) In place of fasting, we are

invited to feast on thanksgiving! He is rich in mercy!

Let us be generous in giving heartfelt thanks and

praise!!! He gave His Life!

Give Him some time in adoration and praise!

Our Adoration Chapel is open

Mon/Wed./Fri, from 8am-10pm.

Adorers needed on

Friday at 4pm and 5pm.

Call Sheila Butler at 889-0334.

We are happy to announce that twenty-nine (29) of

our school and PSR students received their First Holy

Communion on March 13. Sister Julia, Mrs. Cavignac

and Mrs. Gass have done a wonderful job preparing the

children for this sacred event. Congratulations to all the

children. May all your communions be full of graces!

Glorious St. Joseph, you are the pattern of all who work. Obtain for me, please, the grace to work conscientiously and to put devotion to duty before my selfish inclinations. Help me to labor in thankfulness and joy, for it is an honor to employ and to develop by my labor the gifts I have received from almighty God. Grant that I may work in orderliness, peace, moderation and patience without shrinking from weariness and difficulties. I offer my fatigue and perplexities as reparation for sin. I shall work,

above all, with a pure intention and with detachment from self, having always before my eyes the hour of death and the accounting which I must to render of time ill-spent, of talents unemployed, of good undone, and of empty pride in success, which is so fatal to the work of God. For Jesus through Mary, all in imitation of you, good St. Joseph. This shall be my motto in life and in death. Amen
