The СonceptEuropean Youth Parliament

EYP Ukraine Training Camp is a unique project that aims to develop skills of young people connected with their active participation in EYP events. This 3-day training course will take place in the picturesque area in the Carpathian Mountains. The event will bring together both experienced and new members of the organisation European Youth Parlia-ment from all around the Europe. The program consists of 3 main courses: Project Man-agement, Team Management, and Media. Each of the courses will consist of different modules, which will be taking place simultaneously on each day of the camp. The mod-ules are designed to be ‘drop in’. Participants have the opportunity to choose, select and leave modules as they wish, according to their own individual development preferences.

What is EYP Training Camp?

Who are we reaching out to?

Why are we doing this?

Dates for trainers:

23-28 August, 2016

55 (40 Ukrainian, 15 International)

Number of trainees:

The target audience of the training is EYP members who previously had experience of partici-pation in conferences and forums and want to pursue their development in the organisation, by becoming media team members, chairpersons and organisers of these events. The Training Сamp is useful for both experienced members who want to improve their skills and peo-ple who have not got a significant experience in EYP community yet, but have attended at least some of EYP events and are interested in the development of the organisation as a whole.

EYP Ukraine Training Camp is meant to be a capacity building event of EYP Ukraine NC, aimed at exchange of experience between national and international mem-bers of EYP. We hope that after training, first of all, we will bring up more qualified mem-bers of EYP, who will be able to improve the level of future EYP events. This will in-crease the awareness of Ukrainian youth and its inspiration to conquer new heights.

23 August - Arrival Day for trainers;24 August - Teambuilding day for participants;25-27 August - 3 days of trainings. Departures can be scheduled on 28 August, 2016, after 11:00 am.

TRAINERS` VISIONS“Leadership is the ability to get individuals to work together for the common good and the best possi-ble result while at the same time letting them know they did it by themselves. Some people are auto-matic leaders. Some can never be. But many who don’t think of themselves as leaders have the po-tential to become such if they understand the fun-damentals of getting individuals to work together. Those fundamentals can be learned, I learned them. These words are from John Wooden, a legend-ary basketball coach – and they apply to chair-ing as much as basketball: Chairing for the first time, or the twentieth time, feels scary and ex-citing. But in that excitement you must remain calm and listen! How do you square that circle? We will look at a rich garden of knowledge, the right motivation and practical tools that help newcom-ers and old-timers to continue their growth and learning how to confidently and competently plan and carry out TB, CW and a few more acronyms that we, as chairs, can make truly meaningful!”

“I see the Training Camp as an opportunity for trainers and trainees to learn something new. Apart from some typical modules on Fundrais-ing, Planning, HR, Venues & Logistics, Com-munication, Follow-up and etc., I also want to work on some more in-depth things, like effec-tive management, team motivation, and other modules that are not obvious but have crucial meaning for Project Management. I also be-lieve that a good training cannot be based on long boring speeches by trainers who share their experience and impose their vision on how the project should develop. Instead I prefer interaction, sharing different experiences, and trying to shape a global vision of project man-agement, which can be suited to different peo-ple and different projects in and outside EYP.”

PROJECT MANAGEMENT COURSE

“At the EYP Ukraine Training Camp this August, I wish to accommodate all lengths of experi-ence in Media. The training will focus on three areas; Implementation, Concepts, and Man-agement. Implementation will provide a good intro for newcomers to Media, as well as best practices for (and from) experienced members. Conceptualisation will see extensive brain-storming and discussion on what a Media Team can be, as well as mini-projects that the par-ticipants will carry out in groups. Management is the overarching theme of process and task allocation, and should provide a solid basis for those that aspire to adapt their leadership to a Media Team. Finally, the training will have a self-referential aspect to it, by adopting a pro-cess that facilitates people dropping in and out of modules - much like working in an actual Media Team - as well as media products that concern the training camp and its participants.”
