ANNOUNCEMENTS
LENTEN SERVICES
Each Sunday through Palm Sunday, April 17, we will have special Lenten services of prayer and
Holy Communion at 6:00 on Sunday evenings in the sanctuary. These quiet services bring a gift to
whatever your Lenten discipline may be. Feel free to invite friends.
ADULT FORUMS
Following worship today, we will pick up our Lenten worship theme of the Beatitudes for an Adult
Forum in which we will experiment with “embodying” the Beatitudes. Intrigued? Come and find
out! On March 27, two YDS seminarians who are involved in an independent study on how the
church can be present for those suffering from cancer, and how faith impacts those suffering with
cancer will join us. They would like to hear from you about your experiences as they develop
resources for churches.
NEXT THEOLOGY ON TAP, MARCH 21
The first Theology on Tap was a great success! Thanks to all who came out for a casual conversation
over drinks. In light of the fact that on March 25 and 26 Yale Divinity School is hosting an
Ecumenical Conference, the next Theology on Tap will engage the topic of unity in the church. Our
motto in the UCC is “that they all may be one.” Our history in the UCC is one of people and
communities from different backgrounds/denominations joining together to be one. So my question
for you is “What does it mean to live as a united church when we hold so much diversity?” The
event will be on Monday, March 21 at 7:15 p.m. at Archie Moore‟s. Come and do theology with us!
CONNECTICUT SPONSORING COMMITTEE ASSEMBLY, MARCH 24, 7:30 – 9:00 PM
The Connecticut Sponsoring Committee will hold an assembly, Thursday, March 24, 7:30 – 9:00
p.m. at St. Gabriel‟s School in Milford. The purpose of the assembly is to consider and make
judgments on proposals to engage in two issues, both currently being debated in the CT State
Legislature. One is to allow qualified students graduating from CT high schools to pay in-state
tuition rates at state colleges and universities regardless of their immigration status. The other is to
require the State Insurance Commission to hold public hearings whenever a health insurance
company requests a rate increase. If you want to know more about these issues and how the CT
Sponsoring Committee is engaging with them, come to this assembly. Contact Alan or Marilyn
Kendrix to learn more and arrange carpools.
GAME NIGHT & POTLUCK
The Deacons and the Christian Education Committee invite everyone to a potluck dinner at 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 26 downstairs in the Reflecting Room. We‟ll start with the potluck and then play
plenty of games. Drinks will be provided. Please bring a dish and any games for young and old to
share.
FRIENDS IN FAITH FELLOWSHIP GROUPS
FRIENDS IN FAITH PLAYGROUP FOR YOUNG CHILDREN & THEIR MOTHERS

In the spirit of Christian fellowship and fun, the Friends in Faith Playgroup for Young Children
and Their Mothers has been born! The playgroup meets every Thursday morning in the church
nursery from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. It is a wonderful opportunity for our youngest Redeemer
members to play while parents have a chance to talk, share and laugh as well. Please contact

FRIENDS IN FAITH EVENING BOOK GROUP The Friends in Faith Evening Book Group will have its next meeting on Monday, March 28 at
7:30 p.m. at the home of Kathy Hagearty. The book is Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson.
New members are always welcome. A description of the book can be found on the Deacons‟
bulletin board.
BEREAVEMENT GROUP
Our Friends in Faith Bereavement Support Group meets the third Monday of each month at 7:00
p.m. in the Youth Room upstairs. Our next meeting will take place on March 21 for all who seek
the support of such a group of spiritual friends.
EAT, DRINK, DIVORCE – APRIL 7 & 21
A new Friends in Faith group for men and women in the various stages of divorce meets
alternating Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. Babz Rawls-Ivy facilitates our every other
week meetings. Babz comes with first-hand knowledge of what it means to get divorced and
what it takes to not only survive but create a vibrant and happy life during and after divorce. We
eat. We drink. We survive and thrive through divorce.
FRIENDS IN FAITH NOONTIME BOOK GROUP
The Friends in Faith Noontime Book Group meets the 1st and 3
rd Tuesday in the Phillips Room
with a discussion facilitated by Pastor Shelly. Join us for lunch (brown bag) and conversation at
12:00 (note that we are back to our original time!) and book discussion from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Our next book will be Barbara Brown Taylor‟s An Altar in the World. This book explores how to
be mindful of God throughout our everyday lives as well as in church, and it is beautifully
written. All are welcome to join this fun and interesting group. For further information, contact

WELCOME TO THE CHURCH OF THE REDEEMER
WELCOME
If you are new to this church, we are delighted to have you worshipping with us. Please sign our
red guest book and introduce yourself to our minister and ushers following the service. They will
be happy to answer questions and offer directions. We hold newcomer orientation sessions
periodically so that you may learn more about our church, but we are happy to answer your
questions at any time. We hope you experience a warm welcome and the love of Christ at the
Church of the Redeemer this morning.
INFORMATION
Information about the church can be found on the table in the Tower Lobby as you exit through
the doors at the right front of the church. This is where you can sign up for all church events.
CHILDCARE DURING AND AFTER CHURCH
Children are always welcome in church, but often the little ones are happier in the nursery. You
may take your children, before or at any time during the service, to the nursery downstairs (from
the Tower Lobby, follow the “Nursery” signs). Parents may also take children with them into the
Chapel, where they can listen to the service in privacy. The Chapel is located through the front
right door of the sanctuary down the hall to the left. After-church childcare is also offered during
meetings, newcomers‟ orientation, and adult education classes. Children are kept in the nursery
until picked up by their parents. There is also a rocking chair at the back of the sanctuary
available to anyone that would like to rock a baby during the worship service.
CHURCH SCHOOL FOR THE OLDER CHILDREN
Children in preschool through grade 6 are invited to join their teachers downstairs for Sunday
School during the Passing of the Peace. Visitors are welcome to join our classes or remain in
worship.
REDEEMER OFFICE HOURS
The Redeemer office is open Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You may
