Sacrament of Baptism The sacrament of Baptism is ordinarily celebrated the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 1:15p.m. We emphasize sacramental preparation consisting of a four part Parish Baptism Process, in which the infant is always present. To schedule Baptism, please call the church office, at least one month in advance.

Letters of Recommendation Letters of Recommendation to act as sponsors will be issued only to parishioners who attend Mass regularly, are confirmed and if married, are married in the Church. To help us make this judgment, we expect you to be registered with us for 3 months. Weekly use of envelopes (with or without a contribution) also helps. To arrange for Letters of Recommendation or Baptismal certificates, please call the parish office during office hours.

Vigil Light Prayer

Lord, May this candle be a light for You to enlighten me in my difficulties and decisions. May it be a fire for You to burn out of me all pride, selfishness and impurity. May it be a flame for You to bring a warmth into my heart towards my family, my neighbors and all those who meet me. Through the intercession of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary, I place in your care those I come to remember.

Summer Religious Education for Grades 3rd-6th If you already registered your child for our Summer Sessions, Thank you!! If you have not registered your child it is not too late!!! Please contact the Religious Education Office.

The summer session begins on June 29, 2015 through July 9, 2015 from 8:45AM to 12:30PM. Due to class size limitations of 15 students per grade, registration is filling up quickly. This summer program fulfills your child's religious education requirement for the 2015/2016 school year. However, the student must attend all 8 sessions from 8:45 am - 12:30 pm as there aren't any make up dates and/or times. Gospel: Mark 4:26-34 The reign of God is compared to a mustard seed which is the smallest of seeds yet grows to become the largest of shrubs. Similarly, God‛s community grows gradually until it becomes large and strong. “Jesus said to the crowds: ‘This is how it is with the kingdom of God, it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and would sleep and rise night and day and through it all the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how…To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it? It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown it springs up and becomes the largest of plants. Without parables he did not speak to them, but to his own disciples he explained everything in private.” Jesus the teacher, teaching people of the earth and a farming environment, drew a clear picture. Jesus the teacher, speaking to us today, paints a picture of the church and our life of grace. The seed planted in baptism is nourished and grows through a life of prayer, celebration of the sacraments and support of a faith community. Growth is taking place every step of the way. What is required is the creation of an environment of warmth and light to cultivate that growth.

As I reflect on this teaching of Jesus I consider the many other parables Jesus told. Which one stands out most clearly? How do I apply it to my own spiritual life? Is it Luke‛s story of the lost sheep or forgiving Father? Is it the net filled with a catch of good fish and bad? Is it even the example of salt and light in the Sermon on the Mount?

The beauty of the parables is that they are not limited to time and place, but speak to us today. Which one touches me now?
