The Chicago Business and Entertainment Showcase 2014 presented by Bishop Promotions is the premiere event for Chicago Urban Youth and Adults. This event is a fun-filled day of Networking, Panel Discussions, Local Businesses , Community Building, and Live Entertainment. Along with special surprises, there will be discussions on empowering people, and the opportunity to network with like minded individuals who are making a difference in business, community and entertainment.

The purpose of The Chicago Business and Music Showcase is to enhance the knowledge of the positive attributes of African-Americans in the Chicago Area and to educate the community at large about programs for economic, social growth and empowerment.

The Chicago Business and Music Showcase is about the Celebration of a Culture. Like many events of it’s kind, the Chicago Business and Entertainment Showcase will connect people with different experiences in hopes of expanding tolerance, friendships, and business opportunities—thereby creating a better life for all involved.

The Chicago Business and Entertainment Showcase acknowledges the significance of the African-American and minority consumer dollars and the community's need for economic, education and social growth, which is why we seek to provide an outlet for corporate entities to build relationships and increase its market share within the Chicago Area African-American community.

African American buying power is projected to hit the one trillion-dollar mark! Where will you get your CUSTOMERS? Nationally, the number of Black-Owned Businesses increased 45 percent from 1997 to 2002. The number of African-American households earning $75,000 or more grew by 64% between 2000 and 2009 — 12% faster than the overall population's earning growth. African-American women, particularly, are boosting their earning power. The percentage of black women who attended some college or earned a degree increased to 53%, compared with 44% for black men.

Impact of the growing African-American market, which continues to showIncreases in:• Population—which grew 26.8% between 1990 and 2007 (compared to the 20.9% for the overall U.S. population) and currently represents 13% of the U.S. population• Purchasing Power—which is projected to break the $1 trillion mark by 2012• Attraction to Marketers—who spent 73% more advertising dollars to reach African-Americans in 2006 compared to 2002

Black spending is powerful -- at about $967 billion annually. And it's expected to grow to $1.1 trillion by 2015, according to the market research giant Nielsen. Some 64% of African-American women work, compared to 60% of non-African American women — and they consider themselves the primary decision-maker across virtually every type of purchase, from clothing to electronics. Companies already put major money into reaching out to black consumers, spending $1.9 billion in African-American media in 2010, a 3% increase over 2009, according to the study.

The spending power of “Black America” is approaching a trillion dollars, making it the 16th largest market in the world and on the verge of surpassing the gross national income of Mexico, according a new report.According to a monetary break down of the black consumer market, “The Buying Power of Black America” report notes that now may be a good time for businesses to “develop a strategy for increasing their share of the black American market.” As the nation recovers from the recession, “black consumers represent a margin of profitability in most consumer product categories.”

The 105-page report, based on U.S. Department of Commerce data, says black consumers spent $836 billion in 2011 on “clothing, entertainment, food, beverages, toys, consumer technology, cosmetics, autos, travel, and dozens of other categories.”
