NIGHTS
Did you leave your tithes and offerings? The
summer is a very expensive time due to all the
summer camps, events, and mission trips. Your
financial support is still needed. Besides, the
Bible asks “will a man rob God?” So, you real-
ize that you are committing a felony right? Oh,
wait. For some folks the amount of their gifts
would only amount to a misdemeanor. And
crossing state lines make it a federal thing.
(Oh, come on…this is humorous stuff.)
Does Sunday still hold its primary position? In
other words, are you gonna worship some-
where while out there? Hey, it’s a great time to
visit a church and see how they do what they
do. Yes, you can stream our worship but I
suggest going to a brick and mortar place. Hear
some good preaching for a change. Teach your
kids that if it’s important at home it’s just as
important at Dizzy World.
So, take that time away! You deserve it. It will
make you a better person. It will give you opportuni-
ties to show your faith in other locales. Just make
sure you bring your pastor a t-shirt, size large. Well,
it is now. Size may change based on my caloric
intake on MY vacation.
Your “away time” pastor, Rob
Adult Choir Rehearsal in June will be on Sundays after the
morning worship service.
The Choir will be off for the month of July and will start back on
Wednesday night, August 12th.
June 28th, will be our Patriotic Service featuring
our Adult Choir and Jeff Brandt will share his testimony. If you are
military, please wear your uniform that day as we acknowledge you.
Senior Adult Luncheon will be a brown bag
lunch on Tuesday, June 17th, at 11:30 am.
We will have lunch and then take a van to go
visit and sing to a few of our shut-ins.
THE.ROB.BLOG
Ah, summer! It’s the time
when the days are warm (hot)
and the breezes are easy (non-
existent). It’s also the time for
vacations. To “vacay” is a good
thing! Your pastor hopes you get to take one. Why?
Because it will lessen your stress level and help you
re-create yourself. And…I don’t want to be around
crabby people. Just sayin’.
It is very beneficial to get away…from the
normal routines. It gives us a chance to be different,
to think differently, and to see something different.
If you have a “staycation,” it may mean that you
put your phone away and just chill. You may work
on some projects around the house. Maybe you will
decide to visit nearby places on day trips. Yep. To
get away is good.
Every vacation begins…with hectic prep activ-
ity followed by traditional questions as you drive
away from the house: “Did you check the doors?”
“Did we stop the paper and the mail?” “Is the iron
off?” (And my personal favorite) “Where are the
kids???”
Again, I want you to take a vacation. Just
make sure you don’t forget a few important things
connected to your spiritual walk. Here’s a few…
Did you get someone to take your responsibil-
ity? Don’t assume that a staff member can
find someone at the last minute. Better yet,
you get your replacement. It does help.
Enjoy Your Summer Vacation!

Communications
One of the areas that I get to oversee
is our internet, website and social
media. I did say “one of the areas”
didn’t I? Well, I kind of lump all three
of these into one big, huge area. It
makes it easier for me. Anyway, I’ve been working closely with
our Audio Visual/Communications Committee and we have been
making some pretty good progress in the area of helping to make
our church more “internet friendly.” You will notice some new
FBC Wireless access points available in our Fellowship Hall and
soon there will be one available in the ROC. We recently pulled,
pushed and shoved a CAT6 cable from the Fellowship Hall
area, down the hallway past all the Children’s Sunday School
rooms, down between the floors, through the choir room…..so
that the ROC will be able to have it’s very own wireless access
point.
I appreciate Bruce Stafford, Tony Hyatt and Alex McGraw
for their help in this endeavor. I also appreciate Ron Pittman
for his hole drilling expertise! It won’t be long, our entire cam-
pus will be internet friendly….or at least that is the goal.
What’s happening in FBCH
Student Ministry…?
On Sunday, May 17th we had our Graduation Sunday. This
was a great day to recognize our 2015 graduates and also have
our students help lead in the worship service. We congratulate
these graduates on their accomplishments as well as pray for
them as they move on to the next chapter of their lives that God
has for them.
There is still time to sign up for Camp Siloam. The week is
June 8-12 and the cost is only $120. Registration is now
open, go to www.campsiloam.com. Also let me know if you
interested in the St. Louis Project Mission Trip which is July
10-17. The total cost is $150, and I need your $50 deposit as
soon as possible (by May 27th if possible).
In June we are starting our summer schedule for our student
ministry. June 3rd we will be having games, activities, and food
here at church to celebrate the end of school and the start of
summer. On June 17th we are taking students to the Springfield
Cardinal game and it will only cost $5. We have 25 tickets
available. On June 24th we will be doing an outreach event in
our community (this may be more than just on Wednesday of
this week). On June 10th we will not have any activities be-
cause that is the week of Camp Siloam.
I am so excited for the summer to get here and all the activi-
ties and fun things that will be happening. I hope you can plan to
attend as much as possible!!!

Thank You! Thank You!
Where are your friends when you need
them...everywhere, everywhere! Thanks so
much to the crew who recently help me move to
my new home. What a bunch! Thank you
Larry Brandt, Dale Garner, Dave Hart, Paul
Shrum, Bob and Linda Thomson, and Roger
Williamson. They made moving look easy, but
I’m sure they have another story to tell.
Did you know that Dave Hart mops? And does
a great job. Linda Thomson can pack a box
with 100% expertise. I only had one broken
thing in the move and I was the one who broke
a lamp.
Thanks to Cathy Brandt, Heather Richardson,
and Marilyn Scroggins for just stopping by to
wash windows. Not only does the choir sing
they do windows. Everyone did a great job and
it was so appreciated.
Thank you, Betty Johnson
Thank You... to everyone who prayed
for me during my recent gallbladder surgery.
Your prayers were felt because I didn’t worry
about the surgery at all.
Praise be to my Lord and Savior and my God
in Heaven because I am in good shape.

FBC Volunteers
at Arkansas Boys Ranch
Five members from First Baptist worked a long, hard day on Tuesday, May 5th, cutting trees, split-ting wood and stacking brush. Volunteers are still needed in the future at the Ranch. Contact Jeanie at the Ranch to help. Please also continue to pray for the recovery of the Ranch from the very damaging tornado that struck it on April 3rd.
FBC "vols" shown below near the end of the day are from left: Roger Earnest, David Tallant, John Hodges, Bob Thomson, and Larry Brandt.
CLASS will meet
SUNDAY, May 31st
in fellowship hall at

This class is required for membership and is also for
those wanting to know more about the ministries of
our church. JOIN PASTOR ROB!
Dear First Baptist Church of Harrison:
On behalf of Circle of Life I would like to thank you for your
kind donation of diapers! We are thrilled by your com-
mitment for helping these young mothers as they face new
challenges each day.
The goal of Circle of Life is to continue to empower and make
a difference in the lives of teen and young mothers. With the
help of people like you we will continue to see improvements
in the education and opportunities of teen and young mothers.
We could not do it all without the support of our community,
people, and churches like you.
Thanks again for your generous support of our efforts to
break the cycle of teen pregnancy and impact the lives of
young mothers and their children in our community!
Warmest Regards,
Amanda Canady
