Purpose AmemberofCentary’sExecutiveCommittee,theDirectorof Development and Philanthropy (DDP) is responsible for:

• Setting and implementing the philanthropic and communications strategies at Centenary with the Executive Director to grow income to achieve agreed incometargets.

• Growing gross Foundation income from approximately$1Min2018to$5min2021withan understanding that the bulk of the income is generatedbythemajorgiftsprogram.

• Driving the strategic development and management ofthemajorgiftsprogramincludingbequests.

• Overseeing the implementation of a strong, compelling, personalised appeals and regular giving program, an engaging community fundraising program,andotherdirectmarketingstrategies.

• Setting performance expectations for development andphilanthropystaff.

• IncreasingCentenary’sbrandrecognitionwithinthe broader community, government and key stakeholders.

• Serving as Editor-in-Chief of development and philanthropy communications and as chief quality controlofficerforallactivitiesperformedbytheteam.

Strategic Planning

• Develop and execute clear short-term and long-range plans for development that are both realistic and challenging, with a particular focus onincomediversification.

• Prepare and monitor annual philanthropy and marketing plan, budget, and revenue forecasts, and report on performance against plan and budget to the Board of Governors, Executive and the FoundationCommittee.

• Work closely with fundraising consultancy Marts and LundytodeveloptheInstitute’sCaseforSupport

Fundraising Activity

• Work with Executive Director, Chair and Board and Foundation Committee, Governors and Foundation Committeetodevelopapipelineofmajordonors.

• Usingthe‘caseforsupport’,developa personal portfolio of approximately 50 prospects formajorgifts.

• Ensure that a stewardship system is in place for relationshipbuildingandmeaningfuldonorrecognition.

• Oversight of annual giving (including appeals), planned giving and corporate giving programs, and the Centenary Institute Medical Innovation Award, ensuringthattheseactivitiesmeetbudgetaryneeds.

• Buildateamcapableoffundraising$5min2021.

Staff Management and Leadership

• Provide leadership, direction, and management of the Development and Philanthropy team, creating an environment of respect, accountability, motivation, professionalgrowth,andhighproductivity.

• Lead the futher development of a cohesive and innovativemarketingandcommunicationsteam.

Communications and Company Profile:

• Further develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy to increase key stakeholderawarenessofCentenary’sresearch,andposition the organisation as a centre of excellence in cancer,inflammationandcardiovasculardisease.

• Oversee the development and supervise the execution of a multifaceted communications strategy conveying key achievements and aims of Centenary tothoseinfluentialinpolicydevelopment(inparticular Federal and State departments of health), thenationalmediaandwiththegeneralpublic.
