From the desk of Fr. Costa

I write this article for the Sunday bulletin, while I’m “escaping” for a few days vacation. One of my favor-ite places to visit is located west of Philadelphia, on the Pennsylvania/Delaware line, very near to Amish country. Longwood Gardens is an American botanical garden found in Kennet Square, PA. It consists of over 1,000 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows. There are beautiful, newly restored fountains, which spray water set to various musical pieces, both classical and popu-lar. The centerpiece of the gardens is the large Victo-rian style conservatory where the floral displays are changed four times a year with the changing of the seasons. This building also houses one of the largest pipe organs in the world. Concerts are held on a daily basis. Right now the gardens and conservatory are filled with chrysanthemums of all colors, varieties, and sizes. And the autumn leaves add a spectacular backdrop. You can’t help but think of God while walking here. Most of you know I’m a real big Disney fan and I love to visit “the happiest place on earth” in Orlando. But right up there as a place of rest and relaxation is Longwood Gardens. The peace and quiet joined with the natural beauty of creation energizes me. This is where I go to “escape” and rejuvenate. Truly this is a holy place. I highly recommend Longwood as a place for you to visit. I am truly grateful for the wonderful staff and priest friends who make this break possible. Many thanks especially to Wendy, Sister Kathee, Fr. Jim Butler, and Fr. Gabriel! ___________________________________________ Many thanks to all who have volunteered to assist as

catechists in our Faith Formation program. We are still in need of group leaders for 7th and 8th grade. These monthly classes are held on Monday (Grade 8)

and Tuesday (Grade 7) evenings. No prior experience is necessary. Classes begin this Monday and Tuesday. If you are able to share your time and Faith with our

young people, please give Wendy a call at the parish office.
