THANK YOU!
“The Christmas Project 2020” Dea Gladys, I am so delighted to enclose a check in the amount of $17,790. This generous gift is a testimony to the car-ing community of San Agustin. I want to acknowledge and thank Joey Romeo who promoted and encouraged our parishioners to consider do-nating in this way to the Christmas Project this year. I am so thankful to all our parishioners who responded so generously. Blessings to you and the many workers and their families who you will help and support this Christmas time. With every good wish, Fr. Seamus O’Brien
Entering the Season of ADVENT….. This past year has been a stressful and difficult time for all of us as we wait for COVID-19 to pass. Waiting and hoping are strong themes in Advent. We wait with anticipation and look to Christmas as we celebrate God with us. Even with all the restrictions, difficulties, stress and grief at the loss of loved ones, as Christians we hold that God has truly come among us, Emanuel. God has come into our world, past, present and future. Even though we are restricted from gathering as a faith community, this time of Advent can be used to embrace the God with us, to deepen our awareness of our sense of community and make time to pray and welcome the Lord into our lives as we wait for Christmas time. Each of us in our way is invited to use this time of Advent to come home to our God. To dis-cover again the God who is with us in all our frailty, our messiness, our ambiguities, the God who is here for us with all our anxieties and stress with COVID-19. As you wait for Christmas, recover again for yourself that sense of God with you and where he is leading you.
We, the San Agustín Catholic Community in the Diocese of Monte-rey, united by our baptism and through the Gospels, seek to deepen our union with Jesus and grow as a faith community. We seek to enrich our heritage of care and concern for all, especially for those in need, by being instruments of God’s love and healing to the world around us. We foster a strong commu-nity atmosphere where individuals can share the Christian life with one an-other. We encourage our entire Church community to reach out to others as members of the body of Christ. Guided by the Holy Spirit and united in prayer, we pledge ourselves to pursue this mission by active partic-ipation in the liturgical, educational and social ministries of the Church. We recognize that to be effective, these ministries require spiritual, physical and financial resources, and we accept our responsibility.
