It was not without controversy, but he knew he was doing the right thing when he saw the Miracle of the Sun four times while walking in the Vatican Garden; it was then he realized “this was the pure truth.” The Assumption is endlessly con- nected to Mary’s Immaculate Conception. Because She was conceived without original sin, and because Her yes to the Divine Will of God the Father was to- tal, she also transcended physical decay of the body. Did She suffer? Did She experience death as Her beloved Son did? These questions draw us into mys- tery, but we know for sure Jesus called her to Heaven from her home in Ephe- sus. Of course, this is important to Catholics as a Holy Day of Obligation, as Solemn feasts are the holiest, but it is also a wonderful opportunity to prayer- fully ponder the encouragement and hope available to all Catholics dreaming of our own resurrection from the dead, and the reconstitution of our own physical bodies in the heavenly realms. Mary followed St. Joseph and Her Son Jesus Christ, and every day we take steps towards salvation by following the Holy Family. So, go to Mass August 15th and say the Rosary for peace!

The Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary The Catholic belief that the Mother of God was assumed body and soul into Heaven began in the early middle ages, and it finally was declared the fourth Marian Dogma by Venerable Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950. It was not without controversy, but he knew he was doing the right thing when he saw the Miracle of the Sun four times while walking in the Vatican Garden; it was then he realized “this was the pure truth.” The Assumption is endlessly con-nected to Mary’s Immaculate Conception. Because She was conceived without original sin, and because Her yes to the Divine Will of God the Father was to-tal, she also transcended physical decay of the body. Did She suffer? Did She experience death as Her beloved Son did? These questions draw us into mys-tery, but we know for sure Jesus called her to Heaven from her home in Ephe-sus. Of course, this is important to Catholics as a Holy Day of Obligation, as Solemn feasts are the holiest, but it is also a wonderful opportunity to prayer-fully ponder the encouragement and hope available to all Catholics dreaming of our own resurrection from the dead, and the reconstitution of our own physical bodies in the heavenly realms. United in Our Faith: Planning for the Future Last weekend I shared the news of forming a Feasibil-ity Study Planning Team to explore improving our ex-isting churches or constructing a new church to unite our faith community. Over the next month, the team will prepare some important information to share with you during four identical open parish meetings. Next week, I will describe some of the key infor-mation you will receive in mid-September during the meetings. In the meantime, the following parishioners are members of the planning team: Steve Auer, Emily Jung, Ernie Schmit, Patty Becker, Fr. Attention New Grads! Congratulations to all of you. By now you are likely realizing you have arrived at an important phase in this whole business of growing up, and those of you heading off to the life of a college or university student are doing more than furthering your ed-ucation; you are soon facing the excitement of independence, and a range of chal-lenges that are emotional, social, and intellectual. A little nervous? Do you want everything to go well? Then stay close to your faith, Jesus Christ, and the Mass and Adoration. Late this month, shortly after you unpack, meet your roommate, and eat your first mediocre meal in the cafeteria, set about finding the Catholic Church near-

est to your campus. Becoming a dormant Catholic is cliché, and unbecoming; instead, go to Mass every Sunday, and daily Mass when you can. Soon enough, you will find out that college campuses are busy, and very loud, and the best method of all for staying focused and peaceful is to simply and regularly carve out some time to sit in your new church in front of the Blessed Sacrament. We are all praying for you, and counting on you to live out the Catholic values with which you were raised. God Bless you! (Pictured: Fr. Mike Schmitz at the Newman Center UMD)

St. Stanislaus Religious Education Program needs you! We are looking for 4th,7th,8th,9th, and 10th grade teachers. We also need a teacher to teach adults in our new Sacramental Preparation class. If you are interested in answering Jesus's call to spread the Good News, please call Cindy Fussy at 320-360-6798. And: if you have a child in kindergarten or first grade ready for All Saints Faith Formation classes, contact Katrina Kolles at 746-2917, or 292-1575.
