Cathedral of St. John the Baptist’s Masses on Weekends at

5:30 pm Vigil 9am

11:15am

As the Cathedral Choir takes a break for

the summer, we wish to offer thanks for

their contribution to the Mass. We are

blessed by their talents.

Save the Date!

Sunday 30 August 2020 will be a rededication of the

reopening of the Cathedral with Bishop Guglielmone

at 11:15am. Mark your calendars! All are welcome!

Please note that the Parish

Office will be closed Friday 3

July in observance of Independ-

ence Day. It will reopen Mon-

day 6 July at 9am.

O glorious Saint John the Baptist,

Greatest prophet among those born of wom-

an, although thou wast sanctified in thy

mother's womb and didst lead a most inno-

cent life, nevertheless it was thy will to re-

tire into the wilderness, there to devote thy-

self to the practice of austerity and penance;

Obtain for us of thy Lord the grace to be

wholly detached, at least in our hearts, from

earthly goods, and to practice Christian

mortification with interior recollection and

with the spirit of holy prayer. Amen.

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

From the Desk of Msgr. Brovey; E-Newsletter 19 June 2020

Dear Parishioners:

As I have mentioned, the repainting project is entering its last weeks and Sunday Mass will return

to our beautifully repainted Cathedral the weekend of 1-2 August. Bishop Guglielmone will sol-

emnly rededicate the Cathedral on Sunday 30 August at the 11:15am Sunday Mass. Please mark

your calendars for both important dates and stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

The next few weeks will see the following completed:

Monday, 29 June, the scaffolding will begin to be dismantled. This will take at least two weeks.

Conrad Schmitt will continue to complete the final repainting during this time. They are current-

ly working on both side chapels. The lower half of the sanctuary (behind the high altar) still

needs to be stenciled. The last thing to be painted will be the vestibule area and some of the low-

er columns in the nave.

All of the new LED lights have been installed. Once the scaffolding is down there will be some

final adjustments to aim the spotlights in the sanctuary. Then the programming of the system

will take place.

Once the scaffolding is completely removed the new sound system speakers will be mounted on

each of the columns and the “loop system” that will run around the pew platforms will be in-

stalled. This will enable those with hearing aids to automatically plug into our sound system

when entering the building. A camera will also be mounted on the choir loft balcony to allow

live streaming from the upper Cathedral.

The very last thing that will take place before we move back into the building will be the pro-

gramming of the sound system. This will take place last week of July.

I want to thank all of you again for your incredible generosity to the Bicentennial Campaign that is

funding this historic project and your patience during the last ten months.

God bless,

Msgr. Brovey
