What’s 40 Hours? The 40 Hours Devotion, introduced into Rome by St. Philip Neri in 1548, is the collective adoration of the exposed Eucharist for a period of 40 hours, in honor of the time Our Lord spent in the tomb. This devotion to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is typically held around special days in the church, so it is fitting to have it begin our observance of the Year of Mercy.
Tuesday Morning Faith Sharing and Bible Study will not meet during December. Meetings will resume on January 6th.
Today!
Cathedral Christmas Ornaments Our Cathedral Christmas ornaments are in! This year’s ornament is of an angel from one of our Cathedral stained-glass windows. Ornaments are 24k gold on brass with a photo-stone image and are available after the 9:00am and 11:15am Masses or by calling Doug Deas at (843)881-7613 after 5:00pm. Ornaments are still $18 each. Some of the profit from Cathedral Men’s Club sales go towards the upkeep of our Cathedral.

Help Decorate the Cathedral for Christmas!
Help is needed collecting the free Christmas tree cuttings available from local merchants and put-ting them in buckets of water until needed. We need tons of these cuttings! We also need other greenery including magnolia leaves, long leaf pine, cedar, podacarpus/yew, holly leaves and berries, boxwood, and any other greenery that will last awhile after being cut. All cuttings need to be kept in water and can be dropped off at the Cathedral during office hours through 18 December.
Christmas Giving Tree: In the back of the Cathedral find our Giving Tree with Ornaments. Please take an ornament or two and purchase a gift for a child who may have a very sparse Christmas without you. The age and sex of the child is noted on the back of the ornament. Please return with a gift unwrapped and with the ornament attached to make sorting easier. We have been asked not to purchase toy weapons. Also, if you are considering purchasing a doll as a gift, please keep in mind that many are minority children. Gifts are donated to the Neighborhood House for distribution. As much as we appreciate expensive gifts, we encourage those who are able to purchase more gifts rather than very expensive gifts. In this way, we can reach more children, and there will not be a great disparity between what each child receives.
Please return gifts by December 20th.
