ANNUAL CHRISTMAS MEETING HELD The Philathea Sunday School of White Rock Baptist Church had their annual Christmas meeting, with their president, Mrs. Goodloe and teacher, Mrs. Weaver. The meeting was held at Mrs. Weaver's home on Brant Street. A program ~ of Christmas music and poems were enjoyed by all. Those present were served egg nog, cake, nuts and candies, after which each per- son received a gift. TJie meet- ing was adjourned until the first Sunday in January. GIRL WINS STATE STATE AWARD Miss Geraldine Moo re, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Moore of Hurdle Mills, was named North Carolina's Most Representative Grange Girls at the State Grange Winter Youth Conferene held in Winston- Salem this week. ? The title was awarded on the basis of activities in the Grange community, school and church She will represent N. C. at the National Grange Con- vention iti Minneapolis, Minn., in November. THE U. N. STUDY GROUP " HAS MEETING The United Nations study group met at the YWCA on Friday, January 6, at 10:00 a. m. The speakers for the meet- ing were Dr. and Mrs. A1 Whanger. Following group singing of "Silent Night," introductory I remarks were given by E. T. Artis of Durham. Mrs. Sylvania A. Harmon of Philadelphia in- troduced members of the fam- ily and gave a brief history of the club. Presentation of Dur- ham guests was made by Earl T. Artis with greetings, on be- haft of the West Durham Bap- tist Church, by being brought by Rev. F. D. Terry, pastor. After the dinner the club and guests were led in the singing of Christmas carols by Julian Artis, deacon of Jeho- vah, Jireth Baptist Church of Philadelphia. A social hour followed.
