8...SCOTCH PLAINS TIMES, April 7, 1966 The SCOUTING SCENE The Doll Lady Entertains On Tuesday, March 29, Brown- ie Troop 606, under the leader- ship of Mrs. Douglas Clausen and Mrs, Patrick Cozza svere entertained and enlightened by "The Doll Lady". That is the name affectionately given to Mrs, Bernard S, Bresky of North Glen- wood Road, Fanwood, She came as a representative of the West- field Chapter of B'Nai B'rith and brought with her several dolls from the collection of more than 25 "Dolls for Democracy" which they have. Each doll is handmade in Missouri and very realistic looking, Juliette Lowe, Abraham Lincoln, George VVashlnpon, Carver and Emma Lazarus were really brought to life with the biographical description of their lives andthe service they ren- . i dared their fellow man. Mrs, Bresky concluded her talk by saying that as children lean how the world has benefited through the efforts of many dif- ferent people they develop a re- spect for individuals svithput re- gard to human differences. As they learn to like and respect all different kinds of people any rejection ceases. Fanwood is in- deed fortunate to have citizens like "The Doll Lady" willing to give of her time towards the Education for Democracy. Pancake Brunch Tickets On Sale The 32 Cadette Girl Scouts of Troop 256, led by Mrs. William R. Symonda and Mrs, Howard L. Smolin, have begun the sale of tickets to their Aunt jemina Pan- cake Brunch to be held Saturday, April 30th, at the Willow Grlve Presbyterian Church hall. Net proceeds from the brunch will go toward living expenses of the troop while visiting Puerto Rico next year. The tempting menu will include juice, sausage, milk for the kids, "bottomless" cups of coffee for the adults, and all the pancakes you can eat, with plenty of butter and ayrup, Scouts will be table %vaitresses, and their dads will be out in the kitchen flipping the flapjacks. The money-raising event has been planned by parents of the Scouts, Mr, andMrs. Alfred R. Brandt, Finance Committee co- chairmen, report that early re- turns on the ticket sales indicate capacity crowd is to be expected. Cubs Have Nature Exhibit "Mother Nature's Back Yard" was the theme for the April first pack meeting of Cub Scout Pack 130, The meeting was held at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Terrill Road junior High School. Each dencompeted in a nature exhibits which included plants the boys started and collections of sea shells, bird nests, rocks and other souven- irs of mother nature. Entertaining skits on the nature theme were presented by Dens 3 and Den 1. Den 3, under the dir- ection of den mother Mrs. Betty Ogden presented "Dr. Seagals Clinic for Sick Plants". Gold and Silver arrows to- Rober Vick, David Parham, Thomas Grote, Kevin Mar chant, Paul Van Anda, John Ostberi, Glen Marvosa, James Newcomb, Steven Schulek, Chris Brainard and Bill Blankman. Denner stripes went to: Garrett Hodgson, Fred Mealier, and Roy Young. Leaders Named For Area YMCA Membership Drive Mauro checchio and William G, Franklin, co-chairmen of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA 1566 Sustaining Membership En- rollment, have announced their selection of five division lead- ers to head the enrollment. The leaders are: A. Oram Davles, Richard M. Lea, Edward H. Pet- erson, Leonard 5. Sachar and Lawrence M. Wolf.,Each of these five division leaders will enlist' five captains who will lead a total force of 125 enrollment workers. The goal of the Sustaining Membership Enrollment, which will begin May 5, will be to se- cure 250 new and renewed mem- bers to assure the support neces- sary to meet the demands of the continually increasing number of youth taking part in the "Y" activities. There are now 981 active members of which 814 are young people from 3-1Byears of age. "With 12S enthusiastic work- ers we cando well in arousing interest and participation in the support of this important job for youth," stated Franklin, Plains Library Board Meets, New Officers Elected For 1966 Mr. Franklin M.Spooner, Pre- sident of the Board of Trustees of the Scotch plains Public Library spoke at the March 16 meeting of the School One - Muir School PTA, He showed the revised plans for the library and told of the use of the community room, on the lower floor. New officers elected were Mrs. Ernest S. Watts, Presi- dent; Mrs. John R.
