DESCRIPTION
PNW Division 21 Newsletter
Citation preview
How have you served
since school started?
It’s officially dues season!
With school being back for a
month and most Key Clubs
back in action, it’s time to make
our members official! Treasurers
,this is your time to shine!
Organize your members, input
them into the database, and
submit the dues to International
by our divisional goal of
November 1st! If you have any
issues, contact me or Eric
Grewal!
When dues are out of the
way, we can all focus on the
most important aspect of Key
Club. You guessed it. That
aspect is service. How will you
serve, lead, and have fun in Key
Club this year? How will your
contributions make an impact
on your home, school, and
community? Your community is
counting on you to serve, lead,
and inspire!
Also remember to attend
DCMs! We will be holding
monthly service projects that
will go to benefit our community
and beyond. The projects vary
each month, so come and
check them out! DCMs are a
great way to find out more
about Key Club, get to know
others, and increase your
passion for service. Not to
mention that they’re fun and
have free food!
I hope you all have an
amazing school year!
DIvision 21’s goals this year are to have all 13 clubs in their area have active status,
expand membership in the division, fundraise and increase awareness of Key Club
International and the Pacific Northwest District’s goals and projects , and have extensive
communication between all clubs regardless of distance.
However, our biggest goals are those stated by Key Club International:
To provide service, build character, and develop leadership.

Your school’s club!
A Word from the Board
Hey, bumblebees! How was the first month of school for you guys?
I hope your school days are going awesome! As mentioned in the
September newsletter, it's important that you officers and
members advertise Key Club efficiently at the beginning of the
school year and also that the club is well organized. Hopefully, by
this time, the membership applications are taken care of! Make
sure that members pay the dues, secretaries record the
membership information, and treasurers register members to the
International member list! :) Remind101 can be a good method to
notify members about various opportunities, club events, and due
dates. Use it, or other various efficient methods to communicate
with your members, so your club can have everything set before
the Early Bird deadline. Also, secretaries! I hope you turned in your
first secretary report of this school year on 10/5. If you have any
questions about the secretary reports, please contact me at any
time! And, officers! Please encourage your members to go to
DCM's, so they can learn more about Key Club and enjoy it more
:) I can't wait to meet new members and, of course, our beloved
returning members! See you at the DCM, bees!

Hey Key Clubbers! I hope everyone is having fun doing service
with their clubs again! I surely am! Key Club is such a great family
to be a part of! I strongly encourage everyone to stay active in
their clubs and also to get involved as much as possible with the
divisional activities as well! For example, attend the DCMs each
month! The September DCM was a huge success! For some of
the members at my club, it was their first time and they
absolutely loved it! I hope future DCMs will be just as fun &
memorable as the September DCM! Also, since it is the month of
October, many of the clubs in our division are also doing Trick or
Treat for UNICEF! I look forward to participating in this cause as
well! Don’t hesitate to suggest this idea to your officers if they
have not planned to do this fundraiser yet! It’s going to be so
much fun! Stay tuned for more upcoming divisional events!

Hey there guys! I hope you guys are ready for the month of
ghosts and goblins; the month of October! With that said,
you guys can definitely use this month as a great way to
fundraise for those DCON funds! I know I wouldn’t want to
be stuck with paying a fee of $150; that’s like 116
cheeseburgers, 37 Big Macs, or 79 large fries. But back
toward the main point: fundraising would be an amazing
time for you guys to socialize with one another more; you
know, superglue that bond that hold you guys together.
Also, don’t forget that on the 26th of this month, we have
our monthly DCM! All members are encouraged to come,
since there will be a little surprise for you guys waiting
there… Alright, as I try not to spoil the event too much, I’ll
leave you guys with this cliché list of ideas to enjoy
October: carve pumpkins, bake cookies, tell ghost stories,
have costume contests, make skits, and most importantly,
have fun!

- Trick- or- Treat for UNICEF! I have ordered 200
boxes! Ordering is simple, but if your club
needs more of you decide to do it in the next
couple of weeks, just contact me so I can get
you your boxes! More information is on the
next page. This year Key Club Trick-or-Treat for
UNICEF funds will support The Eliminate Project.
- Host a Halloween related event! Carving
pumpkins, creating a haunted house, or
holding a costume party are all great ways to
participate in your community and even
fundraise!
Presidents Presidents need to fill out this survey by

For Officers
What will DIVISION 21 do?
ELIMATE is the District Project this year so we will definitely participate!
Stay tuned to find out what Division 21 will do this year to ELIMINATE MNT!
The Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program, KCCP, in support of Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s
Cancer Program in Portland OR., Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program in Seattle WA., and the
Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program in British Columbia and the Yukon, will raise money and
awareness to fight and find the cure for children’s cancer.
The KCCP was founded by Past PNW Kiwanis Governor Frank Morehouse in 2010. His inspiration
was a young cancer patient named Penny. Morehouse worked at the hospital where Penny
stayed. Penny was diagnosed with a brain tumor and required surgery and radiation therapy.
Penny visited Morehouse during her hospital stays and talked about what was happening to her.
Sadly, Penny eventually lost her battle with cancer.
The KCCP is a long term project that will hopefully expand to a global program. Children’s
cancer affects many families. Thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer each year, and
with the help of research, their chances of surviving have more than tripled. KCCP hopes to be
a part of finding a cure.
“The Pacific Northwest is the beginning. The world is our goal.”
Youth Opportunities Fund
The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an
endowed fund for Key Club International
held within the Kiwanis International
Foundation.
This fund uses earned interest to help Key
Clubs and Key Club members serve the
world by providing grants for service
opportunities. The fund also provides
academic scholarships for higher
education. The Youth Opportunities Fund is
established through a portion of your Key
Club International dues and through the
purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships.
YOF grants can help you take action. Look
around and identify the things that need to
get done in your school, community or
world.
Helping Key Clubs Serve the World
HOW TO APPLY FOR A
YOF GRANT
YOF grants are given only to Key Clubs and/or
club members. There is only one funding cycle
for the Youth Opportunities Fund. The
application must be received by October
15 each year. Clubs may request funding
assistance from $100 to $2,000. The committee
typically funds those clubs who are asking for
a portion of the total cost of the project, and
clubs who are working with other organizations
to fund and complete the project. Notification
of the Key Club International Board’s decision
will be mailed no later than January 15.
