AHS FFA Honored by State of California

Many of you have heard the tragic news that the Agricultural teacher, Mr. Sailors will not be coming back to teach this year. This is due to the tragic accident that occurred to him in the spring of this year, which caused him to re-injure his neck and have additional surgery. He is currently recuperating in Bella Vista Transitional Care Center. Even though he is not here, we would like to congratulate him for being recognized and honored by the California Agricultural Teacher’s Association as the outstanding single person secondary program in the entire state of California for the 2012-2013 school year.

Current and past FFA members would like to say a few words about Mr. Sailors: Damian Hernandez said, “I’m left completely speechless by this tragic event, I’m going to miss him dearly”. Anysa Plasencia said, “I’ve known Mr. Sailors since freshman year, he is more than a teacher to me, he became a dear friend” and Amanda Pierre said, “I’m going to miss Mr. Sailors so much, he was a great teacher and I'm so sad to see him go. I’m just happy to know that some of my best high school memories will be with Mr. Sailors and my fellow officers in FFA.”

Below is a picture of Anysa, Damian, and Amanda holding Mr. Sailors’ award.

The first game is going to be on August 29th versus MClane, at Mclane High School in Fresno.

AHS will be taking on Shandon High School for the first home game on September 5th at 5pm at the West Gym.

Belle Isle By Xochitl Martinez

A Frozen bell chimed,

In silver summer moonlight.

Oh what a lovely night in Belle Isle!

A lovely place…. A luminous face to show.

Bloomed to all who come in thirst.

Jeweled homes echoed, lost voices of trials,

Disasters of the angry waters.

In my eyes, no living above could hide The baleful dead below

The bodies of hades that glossed themselves

to be unseen, cloaked in dark beauty.

Frosted bells cracked in summer sunlight, shards of metal flying and ringing

upon the ground colliding loudly then turned to be,

The last muffled sounds to be heard.

They grew in lies. Lies that wound around like ivy.

Vines tightened power and control.

Pulling and pulling. Exorcising the thread. Pulling through until the dawn of today.

Lying in Bed they heard creaks and groans, wound tight about to break.

Gone was the fear, fear in loathing

When the belles were silenced.
