FROM THE TABLEIt was good to be in Des Moines with the Disciples.Every two years, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) gathers together for its General Assembly. Resolutions are presented, debated, and voted upon; ministries are celebrated; learning opportunities are launched; colleagues reconnect. As I mentioned on Sunday in worship, I was so proud and tickled to hear colleagues, mentors, and friends repeatedly say, “We hear great things are happening at First Christian-Chattanooga.” Word about the ministry we do together is getting out; I was proud to be able to thank people on behalf of the good work you do, Church! We also celebrated 50 Years of the Design and

Merger Agreement of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the Blueprint document that merged the administrative networks of the Anglo and African-American Disciples, and turned us into the denomination we are today.During the Sunday School Hour this week, I’ll provide a presentation on the General Assembly, so you can be aware of some of the decisions that were made and the news that was shared. I hope you can make it.The next assembly is scheduled for 2021 in Louisville, KY, and the 2023 Assembly is slated for Memphis. Both of these cities are close enough for FCC to have a good delegation! Let’s make it happen.Grateful to be in ministry with you, Brandon

FCC Children’s Choir begins Sunday, August 11!Our organist, Sarah Harr, will practice with the children (K- 5th grade) from 10:15-10:30 am in the classroom across

the hall from the nursery. They’ll meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday to practice. The children will be preparing to sing during our worship service, including a few songs for this year’s Christmas

program! Older and younger siblings are welcome to sing, as well. We’re super excited about praising God through music with the children of our church!
