    ABSTRACT

The BIRETRACC is a leisure and social center of Binangonan. It is a fully develop local

government-operated complex that caters the recreational, training and convention needs of the

whole municipality. It houses the sports gymnasium, bowling and swimming centers, lodging

house, convention center, an impounding facility, hillsides peek, forest park and the team building

    facilities.

The project is envisioned to be an environmentally sensitive complex. The harmonious

blending of man-made structures with the natural environment is a major feature of the proposed

BIRETRACC. The project buildings have adjusted to the existing conditions of the site; meaning

the overall design and planning were greatly affected by the sites natural features. In addition, the

project aims to educate its users the proper way of solid waste segregation and show them the

natural beauty of nature through the hillsides peek. Moreover, the project gave way to the

formulation of a new building form, the Bangon style.

    Finally, theres a call for future architects to come up with designs which consider nature;

designs which are honest, straight forward and partly innovative and not focusing on technology

alone, in order to justify sustainability.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

This thesis book is a masterwork

that was created with the help and

    guidance of different individuals. The

author purposely dedicated this page to

give his gratitude to the persons whove

helped him in his 11 months of study plus the personalities hed met in his college years.

First, to the Holy Nazarene of Quiapo, thank you Papa Jesus I made this far because of

you. My Saturday visits at the church have made the completion of this project possible.

To the Del Mundo-Torres clan, although Im not actively participating in our social

gatherings or daily chats, thanks for the support and prayers. Special mention to my parents Mr.

Gaudencio and Perfecta Del Mundo, my brother Darwin, Ate Myra Bilog, Cap. Oggie Del Mundo Jr.

and to my grandparents Tatay Gino, Nanay Luring, Mamay and Nanay Rosing.

My warmest gratitude to the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinating Office and

the local government of Binangonan, Rizal; specifically to Engineers Rogelina De Guzman, Jesus

Laurente, Petronio Tolentino and Nelson Pajarillo. Hopefully, the researcher would be the 1st

municipal architect of Binangonan in addition to the array of engineers stated above.

To my thesis mates Aaron Aramil, Jonah Villaruel, MJ Edon for the miniature model, Riza

Katalbas for the presentation boards and Hector Frias, thanks for the help. To Rommel Andallo,

    Kareem Barquez and Howard Ocampo, thank you for those three years of TIPinian friendship;

additional merit to Mang Bitok and Kag. Ansel Bilog.

Thanks to my thesis consultants Arch. Joseph Alcoran and Arch. Roberto Reyes. Even

though there were shortcomings on my part, Im anticipating that theres a minimal percentage in

my work that made our Saturday sessions successful.

To my former schools University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University, youve both

made my college years difficult but exciting. Special mention to my former professors and

Tamaraw classmates- Pinky Febrer, Jemmerson Erese, Ruth Tolentino, Arriane Gallardo, Joy dela

Cruz, Nerissa Esteron and Lloyd Cruz.

Finally, this would be the first

time that the author of any book will

acknowledge his own self. To Deniper

Ogino, although your Design 10 subject

is a disappointment, youve still passed

the course, congratulations! This stage of

your architecture career is frustrating, however there are still phases in your profession which you

can now look forward to- the architecture licensure examination or maybe some other career.

Theres still HOPE, you can do it!
