Where oh where did the summer go? It is hard to believe September is here already. It seems like I was just going to National Convention and planning for the Picnic. Those are both history. The Elks Picnic at Elk Meadows was a success. Lots of prizes for the raffle and the kids (of ALL ages) had fun with the games and the Egg Toss had a huge a draw. I want to thank everyone for coming and helping. NOTE: Next year's picnic is same place and same time-First Saturday in August. Plan to be there! Fall is here and that means we are gearing up for a fun filled, lots of activities FALL and WINTER. Be sure to check the calendar for a list of activities! New this year is the SOCCER SHOOT! Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 12th (setup at 12:30 and start time is 1pm) to come out to help and cheer on the youth as they do their best at kicking the balls into progressively smaller targets. This will be at the baseball fields behind Thriftway. Many hands will make for light work for all involved. Please let me know as soon as possible if you will be able to help - 503-314-9952 or leave a message at the lodge. Be sure to purchase your raffle tickets for the wonderful Wishing Well Bench - this will benefit our veterans fund. Drawing will be at the Fish Fry on September 5th.. Also available for purchase will be key chains and coaster sets with elk emblems on them. The coaster sets will be made to order. I am working on them as fast as I can. If you want them as Christmas presents (did I really say Christmas already?!?!) get your order in. As long as there are Elks, our Veterans will never be forgotten. We have the District Deputy visit on Sept 3rd. I know we will continue to do well. Remember we have awesome pre-lodge dinners the 1st and 3rd Thursdays. Lets continue to support the Ladies of the Elks in all the do for our lodge. See you all at the lodge!

Cheri Michaelson

Hello Friends, Hope you have been staying cool this summer! I would like to take a moment to express our deepest sympathy to our friend and Sister Jaci Dietch and her family, in the passing of her dearest Husband Bill. Bill was always there to lend a hand to the LOE in times of need and we will miss his quirky sense of humor and gentle nature. God bless you Sweetie. The LOE was happy to provide breakfast and lunch for the District Deputies Clinic on Sunday, Aug. 23

rd.

The LOE will be doing up the Fish Fry on Sat. Sept.5

th.

The themed gift baskets created by the LOE will be placed in the lounge by Oct. 1

st. This year’s baskets: beer,

wine, tequila and kitchen. Proceeds go towards Christmas gifts for Families in need at PFPL. The LOE will be planning our annual Holiday Bazaar which will be held at our lodge on Sat. Nov. 21

st from 9-4.

Please tell family and friends who may be interested in obtaining a table for their crafts. Notices will be placed around the Community. If interested, contact Denise at 425-446-0363 or talk to me at the club!

Take care. Denise Campbell

SOCCER SHOOT Saturday, September 12, 1pm, Little League baseball fields behind Thriftway. The Elks Soccer Shoot program consists of two different contests that test different level skills at different ages. A "Five Goal Contest" consists of a series of five goals, decreasing in size from 48 inches to 17 inches. The age groups that use these goals are divided into two categories, U-8 contains all ages seven years old and younger, and U-10 group contains ages eight and nine. The contest is open to boys and girls who shoot separately. The U-8 contestants kick from 15 feet from the face of the goal, while the U-10 contestants kick from 18 feet from the goal.

Football & Tacos Monday Night Football and Taco Bar are back at the Lodge beginning Monday, September 14th and every Monday thereafter through December 28th, from 5:30-7pm. Tacos $2 & Taco Salads $5. Bring the kids and enjoy a delicious inexpensive meal. Of course, this doesn’t just happen, (just ask the dedicated members of the “3% Crew”) it takes volunteers to set up the taco fillings as well as clean up afterwards. If you have never volunteered at the Lodge, or it has been awhile, this is one easy way to volunteer. The sign-up sheet is in the bar. Call and schedule the Monday you want. It only takes two people each Monday, perfect for couples! Mentors are available!!! HAVE YOU VOLUNTEERED?

Weekly

Football Pool Our weekly football pool will begin with the games on Sunday, September 13, 2015. Pick sheets (available at the bar), must be turned in no later than close of business the Saturday before the games. There are no changes to the rules. Here are a couple of reminders: To be eligible for the year-end money, you must play at least 15 weeks and this must include the last 4 weeks. If you play every game the first 13 weeks, you will be eligible to pick 2 weeks to throw out—the last 4 weeks still must be played. Cost is $3 per week to play.

The S.H.L sheets are available in the bar. Make all your picks for the entire NFL season, before the season starts!! $10 entry fee.

ATTENTION SNOWBIRDS!!

Please contact the Lodge before you head south to change your mailing address. It costs the Lodge a lot of money when your newsletter is returned to us because you are “temporarily away” and the post office will not forward them. This will also insure that you receive your next dues notice on time. We can store your “winter” address and switch back and forth very easily, but you MUST let us know! Starting with this issue of the newsletter, if yours is returned as “temporarily away” you will be removed from the mailing list until the office is notified of your return.

THANK YOU!

Cub Scout Pack 389
