Initiatives in TB treatment and control LEPRA Society initiated its pilot project cum study on Joint Leprosy/TB and HIV awareness programme in  the year 1996

Involvement of LEPRA Society in TB Control

LEPRA Society involved in TB Control Activities in the year  1996(KORALEP) and  2001(UMEED) respectively in Orissa & AP

There are 20 DMCs (17 in AP,2 in Orissa and 1 in Bihar) and 4 TUs being run by the organisation in partnership with RNTCPThere are 74 Sputum Collection Centres (20 in MP, 3 in AP and 71 in Orissa). This is an innovative approach adopted to tackle TB problem in Tribal areasIn the year 2008‐09 there are 1965 no of DOT Providers working under LEPRA  projects  including formation of the Health Forums in  Krishna district (In partnership with TB Alert and VMM) and involvement of SHG groupsAbout 624 Private health care providers in these DMCs were sensitised and involvement in referrals of TB suspects and in provision of DOTSDuring the year 2009 (2nd quarter), 1232 patients were put under DOTS
