THE AUXILIARY BAROMETER SEPTEMBER 2017 WE ARE ONE Hello Auxiliary Members, Celebrating our volunteers is an integral part of our Auxiliary. A kind word, a helping hand with projects, a pleasant smile, showing respect, and oh yes, laughter. I would like to share the following about volunteers. Thanks Patti for your warm thoughts and letting me share them with other volunteers. A few date changes: October 10 th presentation of a plaque for the new mammogram machine/suite has been changed to the end of October or first of November. Installation luncheon changed from December 11 th to November 30 th , Thursday, to coincide with The Festive of Lights and Senior Stroll. More information to follow. Barton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary General Membership Meeting September 11, 2017 @ Sonney’s BBQ

The meeting was called to order by President Killian @ 11:45am. The flag salute was led by President Killian and the auxiliary prayer was read by Joyce DeWitt. Roll Call: 28 members present + 2 guests, Kirk Ledbetter and Carol McCauley. A quorum is present. President Killian corrected the agenda to reflect that Diane Stanley is the Luncheon Hostess. Also under new business make the correction that we elect two members from this group to serve on the Nomination Committee. Vikki Egry/Cathy Vogelgesang/approved the agenda as corrected. Minutes of June 12, 2017 were corrected with regard to the 2016 Hospital Donation after correction was made Joyce DeWitt/Diane Stanley/approved the minutes as corrected. (Correction $20,000.00 for couches and $12,500.00 for new metal carts.) President Killian shared the 2017 Employee /Auxiliary seasonal flu shot schedule with the group. Be sure to get your flu vaccination. President Killian announced that there will be a dedication of the new 3D mammogram technology on October 10, from 2-3pm. Dr. Purvance will recognize the auxiliary with a plaque. This will take place in Medical Imaging. Blood Drive will be on September 29. Cheeseballs: Pearl Parks asked everyone to come to cafeteria on September 24 and October 15 starting at 9:00am to help assemble the cheeseballs. Publicity: Joanne Donmoyer shared that we are advertising the sale of cheese balls. Safety: George Ramirez reported he attended a safety meeting and discussed mosquito abatement program. Scholarships: Vikki Egry reported that the scholarship committee will meet at the end of September to discuss 2018 scholarship program. If you would to be on this committee please let her know. Sunshine/Memorial: Louise Mitchell reminded everyone that Father Grace will celebrate his 97th birthday on Sept. 18. She has ordered a leaf in memory of Dick Young. She also corrected a statement in the Barometer that the Auxiliary only provides $100.00 bronze leaves on the Tree of Life. New Business Cathy Vogelgesang and Blair Bolles volunteered to join Vicki Schussel and Linda Coffman on the Nomination Committee. Kirk Ledbetter, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hospital thanked the auxiliary for the many years we have served the hospital. He explained how the Board of Directors is elected by the association. Mr. Ledbetter shared that the Robert Maloff Center of Excellence will have a secondary name: Center for Orthopedics and Wellness. The Board of Directors meets every other month and often will have off-site meetings. They look for cost savings measures. Pearl Parks reminded us that the Gift Shop donated $10,000.00 to Oncology last year from their sales. Adjourn: 12:25pm Submitted by Linda Coffman, Recording Secretary

Barton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board Meeting September 18, 2017 BMH Board Room 10:00 - 12:00pm

The meeting was called to order by President Sandy Killian at 10:00am. Sandy Killian led the pledge to the flag and the Auxiliary prayer was read by Louise Mitchell. Agenda approved as presented by Vikki Egry/Vicki Schussel/passed. Minutes of 8-21-17-board meeting approved as presented. Roll Call: Voting Members Present Sandy Killian, Vikki Egry, Margaret Anton, Maria Lundholm, Linda Coffman, Vicki Schussel, Diane Stanley, Joanne Donmoyer, Larry Coffman, Louise Mitchell. Non-Voting Members Present Cathy Vogelgesang. Guests Clint Purvance, MD, President/Chief Executive Officer Barton Health. Officer Reports: President Killian reported that we received $363.54 from fund raising per Chris Henderson. Troy Matthews is the new director at the Foundation. December luncheon will be held on November 30 at Montbleu in conjunction with the Festival of Trees and Lights starting at 11:30am. This will be the installation of the new officers for 2018. Dedication of the new 3D mammogram technology has been postponed and will happen at a later date. A new bulletin board display will feature the Auxiliary in the hallway. Vice President Egry shared a roster change for Carol McInnis her correct P. O. Box # is 16498. Corresponding Secretary Lundholm sent out a thank you to Joyce DeWitt for her donation in the memory of Dick Young. A thank you was sent out to Kirk Ledbetter for speaking at the general membership luncheon on 9-11-17. Also thank you was sent to the staff at Sonney’s BBQ for their help with the luncheon. Treasurer Anton shared the Treasurer’s Report showing bank balance as of August 31, 2017 at $260,646.16. Committee Reports: Public Relations: Sue McLaughlin reported that the dedication of the new mammogram technology will be end of October or first of November. Public Relations is helping out the Auxiliary with advertising for the cheese balls. Historian/Hospital Services: Linda Coffman reported on behalf of Karen DeVos that 30 Barton certificates totaling $495.00 have been given out for the 2nd quarter. Barometer: Larry Coffman stated deadline will be 9-20-17 for Barometer submissions. Blood Drive: Vicki Schussel reported next blood drive will be on Sept. 29 from 12-5pm at the South Tahoe Rec Center. The last blood drive for the year will be Dec. 1. The blood drive will change venue next year because of the remodel at the Rec. Center. Parliamentarian: Maria Lundholm will meet with the nomination committee Vicki Schussel, Linda Coffman, Cathy Vogelgesang, Blair Bolles and Sandra Olivo to provide instruction. Cheeseballs: Linda Coffman reminded everyone that we need volunteers to assemble the cheeseballs this Sunday in the cafeteria from 8:30am to 11:00am. Hours: Linda Coffman reported 35 volunteers worked 862.03 hours in August for a total contribution to the hospital of $29,645.66.

Luncheon: Diane Stanley reported that the November luncheon will be on November 13 at the Cantina starting at 11:15/11:30am. The luncheon for December will be November 30 at Montbleu buffet at 11:00am. Publicity: Joanne Donmoyer thanked Sue McLaughlin for all her help with publicity for the Auxiliary. Scholarship: Vikki Egry reported that the Scholarship Committee will meet on September 27 here in the board room from 10-12:00pm. They will discuss the program for 2018. Sunshine/Memorial: Louise Mitchell shared that today is Father Grace’s 97th birthday. She also read a note from Joan Young thanking the Auxiliary for the bronze leaf in Dick’s memory on the Tree of Life. Old business: It was decided to repeat the phone tree callers to remind members to attend the last 2 luncheons for the year to ensure a good turnout. New Business: Dr. Purvance thanked the Auxiliary for the many hours of service to the hospital and our overall support to the organization. The hospital is in a very good place financially with a 4% operating margin for the year. A lot of projects have been completed this year: New Utility Plant, new roof for the round building and roof repairs on the main building, renovation of radiology. A new position, Chief Operating Officer, will be filled by the first of the year to oversee all of the clinical divisions, that person will be on the executive team and report to the board of directors. Hoping for a January 2018 opening for the Center of Excellence. Reminder the next Board Meeting will be on October 16. ADJOURN: 11:10am, submitted by Linda Coffman, Recording Secretary

“VOLUNTEERS” If you choose to get your vaccination anywhere outside of these clinics, you will need to bring "proof of vaccination" to HR to get this year's sticker for your badge. If you volunteer at the hospital or in any clinical area, you will need to either get a flu shot or sign a declination waiver, and wear a mask for the duration of the flu season.

Important Information:

● All employees & physicians must receive a flu vaccination or sign a declination form. If there is a medical reason why staff cannot receive a flu shot, physician documentation must be provided.

● El Dorado County Public Health Mask Requirements:

All healthcare workers with patient contact choosing not to receive a flu vaccination will be required to wear a mask when on duty during the entire flu season from December 1 through a date to be determined by El Dorado Public Health.

● Flu shots are not for persons with certain medical conditions. Consult with your physician before receiving vaccinations.

● Flu vaccine offered does not contain mercury.

● For specific flu vaccine questions, please contact Barton Occupational Health at 775-589-8987.
