LOCAL SCHOOL COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE NEEDED
Dear Big Creek Parents,
As we plan for the 2017-2018 school year, we have an important position to fill on our Local School Council. The Local School Council (LSC) is designed to bring parents and the community together with teachers and school administrators to foster mutual respect for each other’s concerns and share ideas for school improvement. We are currently seeking nominations for one LSC Parent Representative.
The Local School Council at Big Creek meets 4 times a year. Elected members serve a two-year term and may run for re-election once, thus serving a maximum of 4 years on the committee.
Parent Representative – The Parent Representative shall be elected by, and from among, the group they represent. Employees in the school who are also parents or guardians of students enrolled in the school
are excluded from serving as parent representatives.
If you are interested in running for the Local School Council, please email Laura Webb at [email protected] by May 1, 2017. Elections will be held electronically during the month of May.

Principal
Big Creek Elementary
Big Creek would like to welcome our
newest “Wildcat”, Todd Franklin, who is
our S.R.O. (School Resource Officer).
READ-A-THON UPDATE
We want to thank you for all of your help with Read-a-Thon. Together we raised $31,227. Of that, the school
will receive $24,425.48. That is incredible!!!
We are excited that all the money raised will be used towards creating a 21st century media center and for the
purchase of more Chromebooks for our students.
A heartfelt thanks for helping us achieve this goal. With the success of this fundraiser, it is very likely that we
will do it again (as soon as next year). If you have any feedback that you would like to pass along, please do not
hesitate to let us know the good and the bad. You can reach out to Kristin Hicks at [email protected]
with any feedback, comments, and suggestions you may have.
We look forward to our continued partnership. Together we will continue to make Big Creek the best school in
the county.
Sincerely,
Kristin Hicks, Leandrea Voskanian, and the PTA Board

HOMER’S HEADLINES:
Dear Parents, This is a reminder for those who have medication in the clinic. All medication must be picked up no later than 2pm on Friday May 26, 2017. Any medication left behind will be destroyed per FDA and County protocol. If you have a child with a medical condition, new forms are required for every school year. All forms are available on the Big Creek Elementary Web site. Go to Support Services, click on School nurse, click on “Forms”. Please download the appropriate forms and take to your child’s MD to complete over the summer. If your child will require medication next year, if prescription, you will need the MD to complete the “Request for Administration of Medication Form” as well. One form is needed per each medication. All forms and meds can be turned in to me during Open House before school starts. PLEASE REMEMBER- STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO CARRY MEDICATION and all medications must be signed in with me by a Parent/Guardian. Parents of Rising 6th graders, if you have been contacted by me regarding expired immunizations, please turn them in to me by April 28th. Students will not be given a schedule for 6th grade until immunizations are up to date and a current 3231 turned in. If you have not heard from me, that means that your child’s immunization records are up to date. Enjoy a Safe and Memory filled Summer!
