From the Heart of Your DOMM Dear Friends, I drive a lot. And I see a lot of interesting things in my sojourns across the NSBA region: People eating, drinking, shaving, brushing their hair, applying makeup, texting, reading, probably surfing the web, holding long conversations, and who knows what all while they were driving! It’s interesting, that’s for sure. And if our studies are correct, or even close to correct, most are without a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. On any given Sunday there are less than 4% of all residents in the NSBA region occupying places in our various church houses according to the research available. We have a lot of work to do. And it means we need trained leaders. I am sure you are all signing on for the Sunday School Essentials training coming August 7 & 8. Choose the location most convenient for you and plan to attend. And don’t miss the opportunity for English as a Second Language leadership training either. It will be conducted on the same dates (one location: Grace Memorial Baptist Church, Slidell) and in conjunction with the “Essentials” training. And don’t forget to plan to attend this year’s Annual Meeting at Bethlehem, Albany on October 5. Guidelines for electing messengers can be found on our website by following the “about us” link to the NSBA constitution. In these “culturally dark days” I believe it is more important than ever that we cooperatively penetrate the darkness of lostness from the north shores of Lakes Maurepas and Pontchartrain to the ends of the earth with the glorious light of the Gospel of Jesus. It is an honor to serve with you all to that end. God bless you.

World Changers Make a Difference June 22-25 marked the 2015 St. Tammany World Changers event. Youth and adult leaders from around the country, housed at First Baptist, Covington, and other local Baptist churches, descended upon families to bring the compassion of Jesus Christ to residents in the Covington area and much needed repairs and work on their homes for the week. The partnership between St. Tammany Parish DHHS and the NSBA family of churches represents the power of cooperation to effectively penetrate our communities for the kingdom of God. This cooperation and hard work of many committed followers of Christ not only provided compassionate relief, but more importantly, created new ministry opportunities for our local NSBA congregations to share the message and hope of Jesus Christ. Sincere thanks goes out to First Baptist, Covington, and staff for their gracious and generous hospitality and the use of their facility. The event could not happen without their invaluable participation and contribution to this yearly event. A huge thank you to the DHHS staff of St. Tammany Parish for making much needed funds available, Ross Downing Chevrolet for their significant donation, Kent Design Build for their critical administrative contribution, and, without a doubt, the preparation of lunches for the WC’s crews by our NSBA congregations.
