genes, e.g., BCR-ABL1. • Translocations that result in gene deregulation, without producing a fusion protein, are designated with a

slash between the partner genes, e.g., IGH/MYC. The gene that provides the promoter or regulatory region is designated first, e.g., IGH/MYC, rather than MYC/IGH.

• ABL is now ABL1. • Next generation sequencing “NGS” (not high-throughput or massively parallel). • Chromosomal microarray, not chromosome microarray. • For all proteins, add “p.” after the gene; ex. BRAF p.V600E • The word “whole” has been removed from “whole exome sequencing data”, now just “exome sequencing

data”. • “Chronic myelogenous leukemia” in now “chronic myeloid leukemia”. • Use three letter codes for amino acids (instead of one letter codes). • Terminology: change “mutation” to “pathologic variant” when talking about inherited conditions,

including specific inherited forms of cancers, not other cancers.
