Iniezione The newsletter of the NorthWest Alfa Romeo Club
The 37th annual MG Car Club Tulip Rallye
was held on April 14th under gray and rainy skies.
The rally starts at the Cascade Mall in Burlington
and is described as “a laid back and casual
‘gimmick rallye’ where the challenge is to spot
and record the answers to questions based on
signs and objects found along the way, while fol-
lowing turn-by-turn route driving instructions devil-
ishly laid out by the Rallyemaster, whose job it is
to make you laugh as you attempt to find the an-
swers to the rather silly questions.” The rallye
takes advantage of the picturesque rural roads of
the Skagit Valley and nearby areas. And if you don’t want to
chuckle at the questions, there is the option to ignore them
and simply enjoy the drive.
Despite the weather, NWARC was well represented
by the Alfas of Kim and Paula Buty in their 1985 Graduate
(chapeau for making the I-5 drive in a convertible through
some heavy rainfall), Dolly Samson and Gordy Hyde in the
Stelvio, Fred and Madi Russell piloting their Rosso Compe-
tizione 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia, Phil Edwards and Mary Zeit-
ner in Phil’s 1988 Toyota MR2, and Karen and David James
in their BMW X3 (pretending to be a Stelvio).
After a driver’s meeting spent huddled under umbrel-
las (note to self: bigger umbrella next time), we were handed
a route description and sent off one by one, answering ques-
tions while leaving the congestion of the I-5 corridor for the
quiet rural roads and flooded fields of the Skagit Flats. The
driving instructions directed us west to Anacortes, passing
boat yards and marinas along Fidalgo Bay, arriving at Cap
Sante Park and its commanding view of the Anacortes area
(definitely worth a return visit), where we answered questions
about the shingle mills that lined the bay in days gone by.
Pro-
ceeding south
-west and
then generally
south along
Rosario Strait
and Burrows
Bay, with
views out to-
ward Guemes
and Cypress
Islands, we
then headed
in-
land to skirt Lake Campbell and eventually found
ourselves traversing the historic downtown shop-
ping district back in Anacortes. From there we took
Highway 20 back to the mainland for a swing south
through the tulip fields and along the Skagit River,
skirting downtown Mt. Vernon before finally finish-
ing back at Cascade Mall.
All the while we were interrogated by 58
questions about a variety of amusing, sometimes
confusing, subjects, including “sad bovines”, hous-
es for shorebirds, tractors on mailboxes and redun-
dancy. One question even
Red’s Not Blue, but Blue is Sad The amusing, confusing Tulip Rallye

Beauty That is Meant To Be Driven
There is no doubt that the designers of our Alfas, be that
Bertone, Pininfarina, Giugiaro, Touring, Zagato or Centro
Stile, created definite eye candy. From a man’s eye, the new
Giulias have an aggressive look and a masculine appeal just
standing still. Women tell me that there is something special
about the lines and they are equally as impressed. This has
held true over the years and almost every model has caught
the eyes of young and old, male and female, car person and
non-car person alike.
Once in a gas station with my black Alfa Sport Sedan, as
the pumps slowly clicked away, a man came out of the mini
mart and headed for his car with a 10 or 12 year-old kid a few
steps behind. After a bit I could hear the man hollering for the
boy wondering where he had gone. The boy had turned and
come over to my car to ask what the heck it was. This kid
asked about the car and told me he loved the look. Maybe
because it was different. Maybe because it has a unique Ital-
ian aura. Like the new Giulia, it was designed in-house but
even though it was 28 years old when that kid was born, the
lines still turned his head today.
Another time I waited at a light downtown at Stewart
Street, with the monorail lines above me. An elderly lady
shuffled slowly across the street with no chance of making it
during the Walk light, or even the blinking Don’t Walk light. I
watched as she focused on her walker, being certain not to
mess up or miss step. The light for me went green as she
passed in front of my car but since I was the last through
lane, I felt relief she was going to safely make this crossing.
To my surprise, she rounded the front corner of my car, and
started heading along the driver’s side very close to the car. I
wondered what would cause her to change direction, espe-
cially since every step was much more effort than most of us
put out walking. She came right up to where she touched my
mirror and leaned over to my window and in a sweet voice
said, “That is the prettiest red car I have ever seen.” Without
waiting for my weak response, she turned and slowly made
her way to the curb and headed off, I’m sure to brighten an-
other person’s day. That was back in 1980s while I drove my
waxed-once-a-week red Alfetta GT. I still enjoy hearing her
words when I think of her.
Now, with the new Giulia Ti, this car gets plenty of people
commenting or giving the thumbs up. As I passed a burger
joint in a small town yesterday, I decided I should sample
their food. I whipped around and parked in the lot next to the
small building and went inside. The two young girls working
the counter and window were busy and I quickly picked up
that one was training the other. The cook was the oldest,
though he was only 19 or 20 years old. As I asked a question
or two, they tag teamed on the answers. I mentioned that I
was scouting roads and
eateries for drives for a
car club. As one girl
asked what club, the
cook interrupted with,
“Alfa Romeo, of
course.” He had an-
swered while walking
away from his cooking
space to head for the
door to look at my car.
The girls continued their
tag team style of communication and pointed out that he, the
cook, had shouted as I drove past that the “red car was an
Alfa Romeo and it was the first one he’d ever seen in person.”
That might explain why he had found time during his busy
day to walk outside to look at the car more closely. The girls
were close behind him, though they chose to admire the car
from inside through the mildly dirty windows that lessened
their views.
There is no doubt that the designs have something special
to look at. The Milano, Giulietta, Jr Z, the stunning GTV or
Montreal, and many others stand out in the crowd. If you are
not okay with standing out, perhaps an Alfa is not for you.
There is no shame in driving a Ford Taurus or Honda Accord.
They are simple, pleasant designs and work well transporting
you from A to B. I choose the Alfa just like most of you.
The design catches people’s eyes, but the driving is what
catches your soul. People have asked me many times over
the years, “Why do you like Alfa Romeos so much?” It’s a
fair question since every room in my home has some Alfa
content and half my clothes have the Alfa script or logo some-
where. The answer usually starts with something about how
it takes a special person to choose an Alfa every day. (It’s in
question how one might define “special”....) But the serious
answer we all know is that they are fun to drive. A mundane
trip to the store to get sour cream right about the time the en-
chilada casserole is finished turns out to be fun. A commute
up I-405 in the morning is actually just fine, but the real joy is
a wander on twisty roads that dive into the Olympic Moun-
tains and follow the river valleys that do their best to draw the
water off the slopes of the rugged mountains. The moments
of speed combine with wonderful brakes, perfect steering re-
sponse and excellent ride. The car sits in the corners and
almost thanks you after each turn. I miss the clutch, the feel
of the road from the steering wheel, the sound of an ANSA
exhaust… but what is left is still so nice. So fun. That is why
I like Alfa Romeos. They are even more fun to drive than
they are good to look at.

as Italian
cars!
That’s why they’re stepping out of the shop
(and out of the box) to do something a little
different for our May meeting. (Don't fret /
frett / frette - the core of the meeting will still
be about these cars we all love so much!)
Join us as Seattle Chef Marianna Step-
niewski puts on an Italian pasta making
demonstration at G2! She’ll guide us through
the process of making Ravioli with Ricotta
and Preserved Lemon with Brown Butter,
Spring Peas, and Prosciutto. And don’t wor-
ry, it won’t just be a learning experience; we
get to eat it too, followed by Gingery Rhubarb
sorbet for dessert!
Chef Marianna has a deli-
cious history of culinary
prowess. Currently she
can be found around Seat-
tle as a culinary teacher, as
a private chef, and a caterer. Fun fact: she
grew up in the back seat of her mom’s Alfa!
The ever-changing collection of private
storage vehicles will be open for viewing and
John van Rensburg will talk about the direc-
tion of the Alfa business, some additional
technical and concierge-based services, and
the shop changes in general. So come and
join us for the fun, good eats and to meet
some of our new faces.

Next Club Meetings
On June 12 we gather again at Wild
About Cars Garage in Kirkland. After a
short business meeting (which no doubt will
emphasize some final preparations for
'sempreverde2018') we will introduce AROC
President Cindy Banzer, who will speak
about "All Things AROC". Several members
already know Cindy as a long-time member
of AROO, and from the many trips, tours, and
activities we’ve shared with our Oregon
neighbors in which she has participated.
Cindy will have recently returned from
'AROC Goes to Italy 2018' and will have sto-
ries about how this year's experience differed
from the 2017 adventure. As the executive
officer of AROC she should also be able to
illuminate us on future directions for the club
and answer questions for our benefit.
Please remember to pre-order your dinner
to be delivered or bring something you want
to eat. Don't forget to bring any magazines
that you want to pass along to other mem-
bers.
Look forward to a great meeting!!!

led to an enlightening post-event discussion about the word
“husbandry” and the history of the National Grange organiza-
tion. Weather during the drive was typical Northwest spring,
overcast with a few rain drops. Unfortunately, most of the
namesake tulips were still waiting to make their grand appear-
ance, but enough were in bloom, together with cheery daffo-
dils, to brighten the monochrome landscape with stripes of
red, purple and yellow.
In the end, it appeared that all participants enjoyed a de-
lightful drive and the MG club raised $561 for the Skagit Valley
food bank. As to the NWARC members, Team Russell once
again achieved the top score, no doubt aided by the talent and
young eyes of Navigator Madi. (After bragging about his pre-
vious wins prior to the start, it’s funny that Fred won this round
after the route master gave him a tip on where to find the first
two gimmick answers… he told him to take the Anacortes Fer-
ry to Orcas Island. Fred didn’t fall for it.)
Finishing
second (on behalf
of Fiat Enthusi-
asts Northwest)
(?) were Dolly and
Gordy, who tied
with the James
(each team miss-
ing two questions) but prevailed on the tie-breaker of fewer
miles driven. The Butys came in next, missing four questions,
but competing in their Spider may have been something of a
disadvantage in the adverse weather. Rounding out the
NWARC members, Phil and Mary missed only five questions.
None of the NWARC teams scored below 91%, confirming
that the first letter of “Alfisti” is indeed “A”!

Though the meeting at Wild About Cars had the usual com-
raderies, lots of Alfas, fun new members and leadership sum-
maries, our April gathering was clearly special thanks to our
special guest speakers, Toni & Greg Miller. They had spent
2017 wandering the USA on a meandering route in their mo-
torhome (MH) towing their BMW (Toad) looking for ad-
venture, friends and discovery as they went.
The adventure was to have begun on Christmas
Day, 2016 with them driving away all relaxed and hap-
py. However, after shopping for just the right 32’ Itasca
motorhome, a shakedown drive
found a few mechanical issues,
and the motorhome went into the
shop in October - and didn’t come
home until Christmas Eve. Panic
loading/prepping ensued, broken
up only by a short sleep and
church on Christmas morning,
and the excellent adventure started at 3PM on Christmas Day.
They shared stories of their route through Oregon, then to
California and the red warning light that came on. They found
and fixed the problem thanks to a sharpie pen and MacGyver
skills, continuing down the California coastline and even
camping in San Dimas (Excellent adventure, dude!). Their
wanderings took them to the Rose Parade, La Brea Tar Pits,
Hollywood & Vine, Slab City and Death Valley, before heading
into the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona.
February had them enjoying Arizona, New Mexico and Tex-
as. The motorhome and the road were now behaving well,
with plenty of stops and stories. By March they were in the
true Southern states and enjoying museums and southern
hospitality. In New Orleans, Greg volunteered to work turns at
the local race event while Toni worked registration. A few
days later, they visited the Barber Motorsports Track in Ala-
bama where Greg again worked turns for an event. They also
visited the must-see Barber Museum.
With the motorhome being
serviced in Florida, they took a
short adventure over to Cuba
for 3 days. Tip of the day…
bring car magazines for the
cabbies, who love to talk cars!
Back in the states, they headed
back west, then north, then east and up
the coast all the way to Nova Scotia and
Prince Edward Island. Afterwards, their
route took them back through New York,
Ohio, Michigan, and into Chicago.
By now it was nearing August and
there was still plenty of adventure to go.
As September and October rolled along
they dropped into Indiana, then across
Nebraska, up into South Dakota, and over to Colorado. As it
grew colder they headed back south to New Mexico for the
Balloon Fiesta near Albuquerque, then over to the Grand Can-
yon and on to Las Vegas. December had them heading
home but not before they stopped for a large family gathering
in Utah. They arrived back in the NW on December 13… in
time to plan for Christmas 2017! You can see tons of details
and photos of their wanderings and read Toni’s blog by going

The annual All Italian Car & Motorcycle Show put
on by Fiat Enthusiasts Northwest was held on Sunday,
April 15th, as always at the XXX Root Beer Drive-in in
Issaquah. Though the
weather was reasonably
pleasant for spring in the
Northwest, the forecast
of rain and clouds (not to
mention the torrential
rain of the day before)
did seem to dampen
turnout somewhat this
year.
As is only right
and proper Alfa Romeos
were the prevalent marque
with at least 14 cars on
display, including three
generations of Spiders, three Alfet-
ta GT/GTVs, and modern Alfas
represented by several Guilias, a
pair of Stelvios and a black 4c.
By far the most unusual
vehicle came
from artist
Steve Walker
of Close
Enough Engi-
neering, who
showed his
custom road-
ster based on
a 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spi-
der Veloce. A masterpiece of im-
aginative design and construction,
not to mention of shoe-horning all
the mechanical components into a
slender single-seat body
(shifting gear looks like it re-
quires considerable flexibility),
it’s definitely the product of
one man’s exceedingly fertile
imagination. And as for the
fifth wheel sidecar for the pas-
senger… any takers?
Beyond the
Alfa Romeos,
FIATs were well
represented (as
well they should
be), including
vintage Spiders/
124s and
X1/9s, along
with modern 500s in various
stages of tune. A small number
of Italian motorcycles and scoot-
ers held down a damp corner of
the lot. Also of interest was a
Ferrari 348 TS recently imported
from the UK, in a striking and
unusual col-
or combina-
tion of blue
exterior over
a red leather
interior. De-
spite the
weather, this
was a great
show!

Upcoming Events
Our first track event of the year is the ever-popular Twilight
Lapping and HPDE at Pacific Raceways. Take advantage of
the later sunset to work (almost) a full day at the office and still
enjoy hours of sport driving fun from 5pm - 9pm at the track.
This event is open to all drivers regardless of club affiliation
or vehicle type, although we certainly encourage joining the
NWARC for all its other member benefits . For all non-
members, the event registration includes a non-transferrable
one-day event membership ($10 value) for this day only.
All drivers must be at least 16 years old and in possession of
a valid drivers license. Because this event does not include a
separate car control clinic all drivers should have some experi-
ence on Pacific Raceways or have at least attended an
NWARC driving clinic or one from another recognized regional
club. There will be three driver groups based on skill/
experience: First-timer (C), Intermediate (B), and Advanced
(A). The C group will have an opportunity for a "lead-follow"
lap and in-car instruction if needed.
• Check-in and Drivers Meeting: 4pm
• Open track: 5pm - 9pm
Registration Fee: $175
On-line registration at: msreg.com/twilight2018
Please be sure your vehicle is in good mechanical condi-
tion, with no visible fluid leaks or loose parts hanging from the
exterior or underneath the vehicle. Check your tire wear and
tire pressure the day before the event, check engine oil and
coolant levels and fill if necessary. All vehicles will be subject-
ed to a basic technical inspection before being allowed on
track. Please remove all loose items from the interior of your
vehicle prior to arriving.

This year we’ll be visiting three special gardens on the
Kitsap Peninsula, but please note that we’ve had to change
the sequence in which we’ll visit them! We now start at
Elandan Gardens in Bremerton, then tour the Brothers Green-
houses in Port Orchard before having lunch in Bremerton, fol-
lowed by a drive to the Albers Vista Gardens.
Elandan Gardens is a waterfront site on the shores of Puget
Sound with a world-class collection of bonsai. The Brothers
Greenhouses is a retail garden center with inspirational gar-
dens including a Hobbit House! Albers Vista Gardens is a little
-known gem in Kitsap County, divided into 15 distinct areas
and providing great inspiration for Northwest gardeners.

Preparations for our upcoming National Convention are
moving ahead fast! The Registration Form is now available
online at www.sempreverde2018.org. Don’t forget to book
your rooms at the Hotel RL soon; mention code NWAR0804 to
get the convention rate.
In the meantime, here’s a quick run-down of the schedule.
Please keep in mind that several items are still being finalized
and dates/times may change (a couple are already different
from the registration form in the Owner), but start thinking
about which events you want to attend. Sempreverde2018 is
going to be a packed week of Alfa Fun!
Sun/Mon/Tue Aug 5/6/7
Convention Pre-tours to the Ocean Beaches, Mt. Rainier
and Mt. St. Helens. Each day’s drive will begin and end at the
Hotel RL.
Wed Aug 8
AROC Board Meeting, open to all, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
Registration and the Vendor Room will open at 12:00 noon,
downstairs in the hotel Ballroom.
Enjoy the Alfa Art Show, beginning Wednesday afternoon.
Join us for a Welcome Reception on the lawn beginning at
6:00 pm that evening.
Thur Aug 9
Track Day! Time Trials in the morning, Parade Laps start
at 12:00 noon and a FunKhana begins at 1:00 pm. What’s a
FunKhana? Think of it as a gimmick autocross: a tight, twisty
course laid out with cones, but with several stopping points
where you have to get out and perform some task, such as
putting a letter in a mailbox, swinging a hula hoop, and so on.
If there are enough people interested the Go-Kart track will
be open in the morning. This is a great little track, laid out as a
replica of the full Ridge track itself!
The Tacoma Museum District bus tour has been moved up
from Friday to Thursday. The bus leaves the hotel at 12:00
noon and will return by 5:00 pm, with options to visit the
LeMay - America’s Car Museum, the Museum of Glass, The
Tacoma Art Museum or the Washington State History Muse-
um.
Fri Aug 10
The Gimmick Rally starts at 9:00 am and runs through the
beautiful countryside around Olympia. Expect to find treas-
ures you never expected!
After lunch the AROC Board Town Hall Q&A meeting starts
at 2:00 and will be followed by Wes Ingram and Herb
Sanborn’s engaging Tech Session on The Giulia GT’s Evolu-
tion, held in the parking lot.
The Car Wash for those prepping for the Concorso will go
on all afternoon, with Griot’s Garage putting on a demonstra-
tion using its own products from 4-5 pm. The evening wraps
up with the ever-popular Alfas in the Parking Lot tire-kicking
and socializing session, with an outdoor bar.
Sat Aug 11
The Concorso will be held from 8:00 am to noon on the
grassy grounds of the event hotel making iut easy for all to
attend. With two categories, judged and non-judged, everyone
can take part. Someone we know promises to have a special
showing of unique Alfas. This will be be a great show!
At 1:00 pm a panel of local notable collectors will share
their experiences and the pros and cons of collecting cars,
discussing The Wisdom of Collecting Alfas.
There will be a swap meet in the Hotel parking lot in the
afternoon, if interest is strong enough.
The official convention banquet will begin at 6:30 pm and
we promise it will be unlike any banquet you have ever attend-
ed. Our own Garth Stein (“The Art of Racing in the Rain”) will
be the keynote speaker and will sign books prior to the ban-
quet.
Sun Aug 12
The convention wraps up with the Arrivederci Awards Ban-
quet from 9:00 - 11:00 am, where winners of the weeks events
will be honored.
Throughout the week
We’re introducing a Cellphone Photography Contest with a
different challenge subject each day (The Track, Chrome, etc).
Entries must be uploaded to photos@sempreverde2018; there
will be a daily winner and an overall “photo of the week”.
This will be a full week of fun! We encourage all NWARC
members to attend and help host our convention.

Sempreverde Schedule - August 5-12
Iniezione page 10 May 2018
First, a big note of ‘Thanks’ to all the members who took a
few moments to complete the short survey last month - we
really appreciate your input!
The results were interesting
and thought-provoking, and
are summarized below.
Hopefully you will find them
as intriguing and useful as
the Board does, as we plan
for future activities and
meetings for our chapter.
On March 6, 2018, we e-mailed a Survey-
Monkey web link to our NWARC member survey
on club programs and activities. It went to 193
current members, the email list coming from
AROC headquarters. One mid-month reminder
went out to members who had yet to complete
the survey, and it closed on
March 31, 2018. An excel-
lent 102 responses were
received (53%), but due to
limitations on the free ver-
sion of SurveyMonkey, only
the first 100 responses were
available.
The salient points from
the survey are:
• Nearly half (47%) of the respondents did not
attend any meetings at all during 2017. An-
other 25% of respondents attended one or
two meetings.
• 61% of respondents said that
location is the most important
criterion in choosing whether
or not to attend a meeting.
22% said that the topic was
the most important, while the
remaining 17% selected day
of week or time of day.
• Asked about their preferred
meeting location, 66% picked
Seattle or north King County,
while 39% preferred east King County (more than
one choice was allowed).
• Presented with a choice of six meeting topics, Tech-
nical Topics and Car Collections tied for first place
with 76% each.
• Analysis of an open-ended ques-
tion on topics and activities members
would like to see NWARC offer con-
firmed the interest in Technical Topics
indicated in the previous question, but
contradicted the interest in Car Col-
lections in the same question! Group-
ing responses by general topic
(number of answers are in parenthe-
ses) gave the following preference
ranking:
- Technical/Maintenance/
Restoration (15)
- Tours (12)
- Racing/Track/Rallies (9)
- Activities with other car clubs (6)
- Car collections, car shows (5)
- New Alfas (5)
- Purely social (5)
• 95% of respondents own pre-1995 Alfas;
22% own 2007 and later. The first number
is not at all surprising; the second is most
encouraging.
• 66% of respondents
joined NWARC primarily for
socializing, while none of the
other reasons listed in the
survey received more than
13%. There was NO stated
interest in vendor discounts.
• 53% of the respondents
have been NWARC members
for twenty years or more;
17% are new members, less
than one year.
• None of the 52 respondents who gave
their age were under 40 years of age, while
38% were age 70 or more.
• Last, and least surprising, 13% of the
respondents were fe-
male while 87% were
male.

Alfa finishes 6th
in Azerbaijan Grand Prix
The Alfa Romeo
Sauber F1 Team had
a great race at the
Baku City Circuit. In
an eventful and hectic
race with difficult track
and weather condi-
tions, Charles Leclerc,
the Monegasque
rookie, finished the
fourth race of his de-
but season in sixth
place, scoring eight
points for the team
after working his way up from 13th. Marcus Ericsson finished
11th after a difficult race compromised by his involvement in an
early incident. The team now holds ten points in this season's
Constructor's Championship, putting it in ninth place.

Tipo 33/2 Daytona celebrates 50th Anniversary of
Championship
FCA Heritage and Alfa Romeo took the 1968 Tipo 33/2
Daytona usually housed at the Alfa Romeo Museum to the
2018 Motor Legend Festival in Imola from April 20 to 22. The
33/2 Daytona took the first three spots in the two-litre category
in the 1968 race it was named after, and went on to win the
World Sports Prototype Championship the same year. This
year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the achievements of
1968, when the car finished on top also in the Targa Florio, at
the Nürburgring, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the "Imola 500
km" driven by Teodoro Zeccoli and Nino Vaccarella.

Alfa Romeo Giulia coupe to pack 641bhp with F1 hy-
brid tech?
According to UK magazine Autocar’s sources, Alfa Romeo
is developing a new Giulia coupe that features a Formula 1-
style energy recovery system (ERS). Two powertrains are
said to be under development using the system, based on the
current 2.0-litre 4-cylinder and 2.9-litre turbo V-6 engines. The
2.0 version is reported to develop around 345bhp combined,
and the 2.9 V6 a mighty 641bhp to create the most potent road
-going Alfa Romeos yet. The Giulia coupe could appear to-
wards the end of this year and go on sale in 2019. Rumored
in some quarters to be badged Sprint – although GTV would
be historically more appropriate – the coupe is derived from
the Giulia saloon.
A conventional Giulia engine range is also likely to be of-
fered, consisting of the 197bhp and 276bhp 2.0 turbo and the
503bhp Quadrifoglio V6. The 148bhp diesel is also a possibil-
ity.
The ERS may well be a development of the HY-KERS set-
up developed by Ferrari and Magneti Marelli for the LaFerrari,
which, the company claims, is more advanced than the type
used in its F1 cars.
Installation of the system is likely to present Alfa Romeo
with quite a packaging challenge as the motor, control sys-
tems, inverter and battery pack will all need to be accommo-
dated. There might also be a liquid cooling system to optimize
battery performance and durability, as with the LaFerrari.

Fiat-Chrysler Reports Significant Increase in March
and April Sales from Last Year
FCA US LLC reported March 2018 sales of 216,063 vehi-
cles (14% increase from March 2017) and April 2018 sales of
184,149 (up 5% from April 2017). Retail sales for March and
April were 162,304 and 143,995; this was the best March retail
total since 2001. Fleet sales account for 22-25% of the total.
Alfa Romeo brand sales of 2,576 in March and 1,847 in
April were up significantly compared with the same months a
year ago. The Giulia leads the brand with 1,284 sales in
March, 1,123 in April, followed by Stelvio models at 1,270 in
March, 702 in April. Sadly, Fiat sales are down 45-47% com
parted with 2017, to 1,544 vehicles in March and 1.404 in
April.
