The AAI Seed Fund Investment Proposal

AIESEC Alumni International (AAI) has launched The AAI Seed Fund and is seeking €300,000 in personal donations and corporate sponsorships to fund its Transformation Project. This proposal outlines AAI’s vision and specific plans and the intended use of this funding. AAI’s History The AIESEC alumni community has for decades believed in the potential to harness its talent, scale and global reach—and especially its shared values and capital of trust—to provide alumni with a lifelong connection and exert a positive impact on the world. To address this goal, a group of former senior AIESEC leaders formed AAI in 1986 in Budapest with the aim of building a global alumni organization. While AAI has held international alumni meetings each year, attendance and engagement has been limited to a core group of dedicated alumni, and the organization has failed to achieve significant growth. Simply stated, AAI has been a “sleeping giant” lacking the vision, resources, organization and services to engage alumni and achieve its enormous potential. Recent Developments Over the past two years, this sleeping giant has awakened, and the global AIESEC alumni community is uniting to unleash its potential. With inter-generational input from national and regional AIESEC Alumni associations, AIESEC International and alumni-at-large, AAI has developed an ambitious vision and strategic plan for transforming itself into an active, global network. This plan will make it possible for as many as one million alumni to connect and collaborate on programs that will provide lifelong value to alumni, support AIESEC and make a positive difference in the world. You can read the full background on the AAI Transformation Project by visiting aiesecalumniunite.org. Use of Proceeds AAI is raising the AAI Seed Fund in order to execute its Transformation Project by developing the infrastructure, staffing and services that are necessary to unleash AIESEC’s global alumni potential. AAI Seed Fund proceeds will be used as follows:

• To complete the development and deployment of AlumNet, AAI’s new global services web portal;

• To build a small AAI office and staff to support day-to-day membership administration, program development and IT infrastructure; and

• To provide working capital that will support AAI’s growth.

…in line with AAI’s projected financials, shown in the attached exhibit, which include our 2013 and 2014 budgets as approved at the AAI Congress in Vienna on October 11, 2013.

AlumNet – The Foundation of an Active Alumni Network AAI has developed the first version of AlumNet, a sophisticated web portal that will be the key enabler for an active global alumni network. AlumNet will bring alumni around the world together into a single online community, where they can find old and new friends with common interests, find events to attend, and make business, career and life connections. Key features of AlumNet include:

• Alumni profiles with AIESEC and post-AIESEC experience and social media links; • Connections to other alumni and alumni groups; • Alumni-to-Alumni, Alumni-to-AIESEC and Alumni-to-World “signature programs” that

provide substantive opportunities to collaborate and have an impact (see below); • Forums with threaded discussions among alumni on any topic; • Alumni events and calendaring, integrated newsletter and blog; • A robust database for alumni registration, payment and membership management; • Multi-tenant capabilities, so that national and regional alumni associations can

manage their membership, communications and calendars on the same platform. Signature Programs AAI has developed a set of signature programs that will engage alumni in personal, career and business connections that bring ongoing value to them, and connect them in a unique global network of professionals who share AIESEC experiences and values. These programs include:

• Global Exchange Programs, which enable alumni to leverage the power of our global network to market their services, find jobs, recruit employees, raise venture capital, and organize personal and professional meet-ups with alumni who are across town or across the globe.

• A-Groups, which bring small groups of executives together monthly to share personal, career and business experience and engage in group support activities, almost like having a personal board of directors. A-Groups infuse AIESEC values into a business peer growth model that is used successfully by such organizations as Vistage and YPO.

• International Start-Up Meetings, which bring alumni together with investors and entrepreneurs for training and networking related to starting and building new international businesses.

• ALUMnite, which offers alumni the opportunity to meet monthly with fellow alumni for networking and socializing, thereby building and maintaining local alumni communities, which form the foundation of the organization.

AAI’s signature programs will bring about personal and professional transformative value that will engage alumni in the network. The programs have been vetted and validated by alumni around the world, with some already showing traction, and AlumNet is the engine that will enable their growth.

In addition to these Alumni-to-Alumni programs and services, AAI has defined key program offerings that fall into two other key areas of interest for alumni collaboration: Alumni-to-AIESEC (i.e., programs that support AIESEC, such as the Alumni Internship Referral program and support for student projects), and Alumni-to-World (where alumni can support shared causes). AAI will develop and launch these programs as it achieves critical mass in its membership. Building a Global Organization At the AAI Congress in Vienna in October 2013, the membership approved important statutory changes that define AAI’s membership and governance structures going forward. These include global, regional and national alumni roles and responsibilities, as well as global virtual elections, integrated membership and fee sharing. These breakthroughs will allow the organization to achieve sustained growth with alignment of membership, programs and governance at all levels of the organization. Donation Levels AAI is seeking donors at the follow gift levels:

• Visionary Circle: €25,000 – €50,000 • Leaders Circle: €10,000 or above • Entrepreneur’s Circle: €5,000 or above • Patron: €1,000 or above • Sustainer: €500 or above

All donors will receive appropriate recognition for their contributions on AlumNet, at upcoming AAI events, and in our communications. Our 10 for €10K Challenge In Vienna, where we launched The Seed Fund Campaign, a key group of alumni that included AAI EB members issued a matching donation challenge to the alumni. Those individuals each committed to a donation of €10,000, provided that AAI can raise a minimum of €100,000 by the end of 2013. AAI has already secured €50,000 in commitments, and is seeking five other individuals to complete the challenge. Conclusion AAI has a clear vision, strategy and action plan to transform the alumni organization into an active, engaged alumni organization over the next several years, and we have the leadership in place to bring the Transformation Project to fruition. Join us in this effort and help us bring our vision of a tangible, global, lifelong AIESEC connection to reality.
