THE 21ST CENTURY FLUENCIESBy: Christina Obrien
SOLUTION FLUENCY Problem solving
Define a problemFind a solution Assess your solution
I see my students use their solution fluency everyday. My students demonstrate this fluency by: Inquiry Circles- My students are able to problem
solve in their social studies and science units. Science experiments Math explorations- student problem solve and
present their findings to the class.
INFORMATION FLUENCY Access digital information that is relevant to
your search In my Social Studies lesson I have taught my
students to do research and investigate certain presidents or inventors. My students were able to learn how to search for the information by using Goggle. Other search engines my children know are: Wikipedia Yahoo Google
My students were able to compare what they learned from Wikipedia compared to a different insignificant source online.
COLLABORATION FLUENCY
My students are always collaborating online with social media such as club penguin and face book
To teach students collaboration fluency, one lesson I could create would be to have my students talk to people in Great Britain when learning about King George and the American Revolutionary war. They could ask questions about how a King governs and how that is different from our government.
CREATIVITY FLUENCYDeveloping creative minds
There are so many great websites out there for students to create creative stories. EX:Kerpoof
Differentiating using technology gives children creative fluency by letting them create Power Points or posters on Word to show their thinking.

MEDIA FLUENCY
Media Fluency is to teach students how to communicate with not just writing, but with sound, videos, websites, and soon 3-D. Fluency is to teach students how 3-D.
I want to incorporate more media fluency in my
classroom with Skype and talking with our pen
pals in Florida.

DIGITAL CITIZEN Technology is
everywhere… but we have to teach our students how to be safe with it.
A lesson that I taught my students was internet safety. It was the first day I taught them how to access our classroom blog. Most of my student knew about internet safety but reminding them is so important.
