First, let me say how honored I am to be chosen as the CSA Commodore for
2016! The Corinthians is a wonderful sailing organization that has been led for
many years by very able and dedicated volunteer sailors, from Charley Erickson at
the very beginning to our latest Commodore, Dieter Hugel.
Our new Board of Directors consists of some terrific talent and I am looking
forward to working with them. They are:
Tim Fortney: Vice Commodore
Louise Bienvenu: Rear Commodore
Casey Grimm: Treasurer
Mike Floberg: Secretary
Dieter Hugel: Past Commodore
Albert Bacque, John David & Skipper Chenault: Members at Large
We are anxious to grow our membership this year again, and we have just
added 7 new members:
Jim Odom (Bella Luna, Beneteau 373)
CJ Brustowitz (Baboo, Catalina 22)
Dan Doran (Josie, Catalina 25)
Brian Lauziere (Malibu, Catalina 27)
Joel Berry (Rambunctious, J-92)
Mark Arnold (Bloure', J-24)
Mark Wilson (Desire, Alerion 28)
A very special "Welcome Aboard" to all our new members!
Our January "CSA Birthday Party" at NOYC was a rousing success with 80
members, wives & guests present! We all enjoyed the band (Shriners) and the
great food provided by Chef Kathryn. Awards were given for "Sportsman of the
Year" and "Boat of the Year" as follows:
North Shore South Shore
Spinnaker "A": The Bear (Steve Choate) Hot Chocolate (Casey Grimm)
Spinnaker "B": Trout (Don Levy)
Non Spinnaker "A": Voodoo Child (Tom Quinlin) Koala (Rudy Brunken)
Non-Spinnaker "B": Summer Wind (Henry Barousse)
Sportsman of the Year: Gerald Kuehler (Whiskers)

Our February 16th first quarter General Membership meeting at the Pontchar-
train Yacht Club was a big success with the largest turnout in my memory! Special
thanks to David Bolyard of Ullman Sails for his excellent presentation on optimiz-
ing sail trim for maximum boat speed.
Racing is now in full swing on both the South Shore and the North Shore.
Check our web-site (www.corinthians.org) for the schedule of our races and plan
to attend as many as you can. Let's try to set a record this year with maximum
participation. Also, if you have any suggestions on how to increase our racing par-
ticipation please let one of the board members know your ideas.
Looking forward to seeing you on the water!
Gerald Kuehler (Whiskers, Peterson 37)
