• 1705: Treaty of Warsaw between the Swedish Empire and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth

• 1745: Treaty of Warsaw between Great Britain, Austria, the Dutch Republic and Saxony, to uphold the pragmatic sanction enabling their favored candidate Maria Theresa to take the throne of the Austrian Empire

• 1955: Treaty of Warsaw, better known as Warsaw Pact

The origin of the 1929 Warsaw Convention• 1923: proposal by French government for a conference on liability of air

carriers

• 1925: first International Conference on Private Air Law, in Paris; “draft Convention relating to the liability of the carrier in international carriage by aircraft” led to:

• 1926: Committee of experts “Comité International Technique d’Experts Juridiques Aériens” (C.I.T.E.J.A)

• 1927-28: C.I.T.E.J.A. prepared new draft convention, to be submitted to new conference

• 1929 (Warsaw, 4-12 Oct): Conference taking

place on the initiative of the Polish Government

adoption of the Convention for the unification of

certain rules relating to international carriage by air

• 1933: Entry into force of the Warsaw Convention
