WELCOME

The 10th International Conference & Expo on Emerging Technologies for a Smarter World

This is the 10th International Conference and Expo on Emerging Technologies organized by the Center ofExcellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT). We have been organizing an annual internationalconference on cutting edge wireless and information technology since 2003. The conference has gainedinternational recognition as one of the premier conferences on the development and application of emergingtechnologies, bringing together academic research and industry innovation at a single forum. This year’sconference features nine sessions including: Big Data Architecture and Analytics, Smart Systems andApplications, Visual Computing, Health Management and Technologies, Networks, Clouds and Security, Smart Grid and Smart Energy, Medical Devices and Implantable Sensors, as well as three special panels on Technology and Law, Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital, and Heath and mHealth Technologies.Through this conference, we aim to disseminate research findings and innovative solutions to major technical challenges in developing a smarter global environment.

CEWIT is a next generation research and educational facility, whose mission is three-fold: become recognizedas a world leader in interdisciplinary research in emerging, critical technologies of the information age;address the skilled technology worker shortage; and foster new enterprise development. It is critical for thosewho are engaged in IT research to build strategic alliances and business partnerships among the academic, scientific, and business communities. Working with other organizations, technology commercialization activities can be formulated to help drive the economic growth worldwide by quickly moving technologiesfrom research labs to the marketplace.

The relevance of information technology in addressing the challenges in healthcare, energy, and infrastructure has never been more important than now. The conference this year hosts a wide range of high-caliber speakers, including leading researchers, technologists, executives and policy makers, and abroad international audience. This conference has attracted authors and participants from all over the world, from academic institutions, industry, and government institutions. The conference program features morethan 150 oral and poster presentations, including many leading research and industry experts. It also provides networking opportunities for individuals engaged in research, development, and commercializationof technologies.

My heartiest congratulations to all authors and welcome to all participants.
