Fall is here! And we enter cold and flu season…

The Chinese have a saying:

“Where there is no door—disease cannot enter.”

Two primary factors determine whether we will get sick---the strength of our resistance, and the strength of the invading germ. A person cannot “get sick” with an infection unless they are in a weakened state that allows germs to overcome their natural defenses and ‘make them sick’.

Poor dietary choices reduce immune strength, as does lack of rest, lack of sufficient pure water, lack of exercise, toxins in our environment, and stress. In addition to this, supergerms have been created by antibiotic abuse. There are a lot of people out there who are so unhealthy that their body tissues harbor these supergerms.

What does this mean to us? It means that those of us who want to stay healthy—must become even stronger and healthier. How do we do that? Drink lots of pure water, get regular exercise, eat wholesome foods, get regular supportive natural health care, and REST. JuicePlus is a simple way to add 17 wholesome foods into your daily diet—in capsule or chewable form. JuicePlus is

The Colorado Avenue Day Spa and Wellness Center welcomes its newest member Cyndi McChesney! Cyndi brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge. She will offer body polishes and body wraps, along with her diverse massage therapy talents.

We proudly announce that Cyndi will offer Ashiatsu Oriental bar therapy. The word “ashiatsu” means foot pressure (“ashi”means foot and “atsu” means pressure).

A typical session involves the patient lying face down on a massage table. The therapist suspends herself from bars on the

ceiling, while giving the patient the compression foot massage. Usually the therapist applies a combination of Swedish foot massage and ashiatsu.

This form of massage therapy is very beneficial for patients suffering from chronic back pain. This is because the pressure strokes of the feet are applied along the Para spinals and the lumbar region of the back, which eases muscle spasms.

The compression movements also help to open the intervertebral foramen (a passageway in a bone for nerves). This allows for the

nerve to be relieved of pressure and pain, because the foramen has more space to retake its natural position.

Other benefits of ashiatsu ori-ental bar therapy include relaxa-tion, reduction of inflamma-tion and swelling of the spine, pain relief, long-term stress reduction, and an increase in the patients’ overall health and well-being.

We are exited that we now offer over fifteen different touch therapies and energy work!

We look forward to seeing you!

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy coming soon to Pueblo!

PUEBLO PERFORMING ARTS GUILD Magician provided wonderful entertainment for the children and adults alike. Poet Tony Moffeit was there with Rick Terlap of “Little Ricky and the Roosters”. Pride City band marched through the street—playing and even danc-ing in place. The Pueblo Choral Society and the Children’s Choral were singing. Other performing groups included: Rock & Robins, Wendy Keller, the Dream Dancers, Ego & the Egoettes, Dan Lazzarini, Steel City Theater Company, Didges and Drums, and The Blackout Beat. There were even wandering performers like Jeremiah Hale of TJM Productions on amazingly tall stilts.

The success of the event will result in an even greater affair next year, so plan your calendars accordingly—August 11, 2007.

Always check PuebloPAG.org for the current Pueblo performing arts calendar!

On Saturday, August 12, 2006, not even a torrential downpour could stop these performing artists.

As brave vendors and participants dried their booths and equipment, people from the community began to wander the streets in search of a good time. What they found was Pueblo’s first annual “Main Event”.

Three out-door stages were filled with entertaining groups from around the community. Two Spanish dance groups, Grupo Folklorico and the Aymoray School of Dance performed in brightly colored attire to folklorico music. Mr. Mike the

Chances are that you probably have some questions, so let’s see if we can answer these and give you some resources for further information.

What is the safety of raw milk?

Mark McAfee, the founder of Organic Pastures Dairy in Fresno, California, wrote a letter to the Colorado Department of Public Health about the safety of raw milk (2004). His findings as an owner and operator of an organic and raw milk dairy, showed the following:

1.) No human pathogens, i.e. salmonella were ever found in their milk cows’ fresh manure. Conventional dairies that pasteurize their milk typically

found salmonella or E. coli 0157:H7 approximately 30% of the time.

2.) During the period of 2000-2004 there were many food recalls associated with pasteurized milk products and ice cream. During that duration of time 12 million servings of Organic Pastures products were consumed. “Not one person ever complained of illness and not one pathogen was ever found either by the state, FDA, or Organic Pastures.” [2]

3.) A study was done to see what would happen when pathogens were added to raw milk. The result? The salmonella and E. coli 0157:H7 that was added

would not grow and declined substantially over time. [2]

Why would I drink raw milk?

There are many health benefits, as reported by several different sources. These include the alleviation of: asthma, arthritis, immune-related disorders, autism, ADD, Chron’s disease [2], tuberculosis, diseases of the nervous system, hypertension, diseases of the heart and kidneys, high blood pressure [3], and many more [4].

We encourage you to research more about raw milk, and contact Doug & Kim with your questions!

3.) Magnesium [5]

4.) Phosphorus [5]

These nutrients are related to not only maintaining optimal health, but also healing from various sicknesses and diseases. Additionally there is a difference in the mineral content of organically grown produce [6].

These studies also show that organic produce has significantly less exposure to nitrates [5]and less pesticide residue [5,8] than conventional produce.

Both nitrates and pesticides have been linked to various health problems. Nitrates are related to blue-baby syndrome [9]. Pesticides may cause short-term health effects, like: dizziness, headache, weakness,

There is a real difference between buying produce that is conventional and buying produce that is organic.

As a matter of fact, there is a not only a difference nutritionally, but there is also a difference in the taste. We all know what a huge factor this is when trying to eat the daily recommended amount of fruits and vegetables.

Why is organic produce better?

There have been several studies on the nutritional differences between organic versus conventional produce.

This research shows that there are significantly larger amounts of the following in organic fruits and vegetables:

1.) Vitamin C [5,7]

2.) Iron [5]

and other nervous-system problems [10].

Some pesticides cause dangerous long-term health problems [11]. There is also considerable debate about pesticides acting as carcinogens [12], these are substances that promote cancer [13].

Country Roots Farm, run by Ryan & Betsy Morris, and worked by many members of the community, is a local farm that does not use any chemi-cal-pesticides and is certified organic by area farmers and community members.

Not only is their selection of produce absolutely delicious, their dedication to the land and the health of their patrons is unmatched by any produce you would might purchase conventionally.
