“As startup entrepreneurs ourselves, we understand the often tough journey building a startup entails. We

felt the need to create a show that can be inspiring, informative but also entertaining and fun, something we

would want to watch ourselves on a Friday night. ” says Creative Director and co-producer, Ahmed Salama.

Anna Reeves, a former business affairs and brand manager for cult TV show Rockwiz in its early seasons said,

“For us, it’s also about actively engaging our audience on this journey in a unique and fun way, which adds

value and fosters connections within the amazing start up culture we have in Australia. That’s actually what

we love most about it!”

Sebastien Eckersley-Maslin, CEO of dynamic Incubator Blue Chilli, also sees the Show as an opportunity to

create meaningful dialogue on issues affecting the start up community:

“We as a start up community need to address the unique issues that our community face, so there is a clear

understanding on what we’re trying to achieve if we have any hope of changing government policy around

things such as innovation or barriers to finance. That Startup Show uses humour to create a conversation

around the deeper issues at play. In short, That Startup Show is just the start and taking the broader vision

for the show aside, it’s hilarious and I’m looking forward to the next episodes in this inaugural season.”

Episodes 3 and 4 will be filmed back to back in late October as part of StartupAus’s StartupSpring festival,

with tickets available via Eventbrite.

That Start Up Show has attracted support from industry players: vibrant tech incubator innovator Blue

Chilli, startup lawyers Clearpoint Counsel, and City of Melbourne are founding sponsors. Xero and Oxygen

Ventures have also pledged support for the series.

That Start Up Show seeks to unite the startup community, with the aim of making Melbourne, Australia

another destination startup city in the Southern hemisphere. Key community groups who’ve signed on are

Girl Geek Academy, Silicon Beach, Start Up Grind and HUB Melbourne, with inkind support from Uber.

Media partners include leading media group Startup Smart, Larkspur Communications, production house

LAMP, and post-production team Evolved Group.
