Scenarios to Evaluate Application to Required Child Protection Documentation

Summer Day Camp for 32 youth Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the month of June

Scenario #1:

Cooking clinic all day Friday and Saturday.No overnight stay and parents are expected to attend with their children.

Scenario #2:

Summer Livestock Judging Clinic, Tuesday-Thursday.Parents will drop off their children each morning at 7:30 am and pick up at 2:00 pm.

Scenario #3:

Summer exchange program: Youth from Minnesota will be staying with families in the county for 7 days and participating in organized 4-H Activities. A total of 22 youth are involved.

What questions should be asked to determine if the DSHS “Campus Program for Minors” Form must be completed?

Scenario #4:

District 9 4-H Leadership Lab – 3 days in Galveston

Scenario #5:

Hunter Safety Education Classes Sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife. Classes being offered all week long in the County Extension Education Room.

Scenario #6:

County Summer Camp Program hosted at the Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood. 40 youth attending, for 5 days.

Scenario #7:

A three-day shooting sports workshop requires that parents/guardians participate with their child. Parents have not always been involved with their child during the workshop and sometimes leave the grounds to run errands.

Where could this be problematic in terms of child protection?

Scenario # 8

Scenario #9:

You send out promotional materials for an event and include the statement for accommodations. A parent contacts you to request an accommodation for their child.

What do you do next?

Scenario #10:

You receive notice from the A&M system that they want to audit the child protection documentation related to a program for minors.
