Dear customer,

You have received this brochure including unique tree certificate at the back, because Recypack has donated one or more trees on your behalf. As a customer you are important to us. This is why we would like to get you involved in our special Recypack forest. Together we can make the world a bit better; by planting this forest and creating ecosystems.

Forest are often referred to as the lungs of our planet, absorbing carbon doxide and releasing life sustaining oxygen.

According to the WWF (2017) almost half of the original forests on earth have already disappeared. A small part (10%) of the remaining forests are protected. Yet nearly 8.8 million hectares of natural forest disappear every year. That is more than twice the size of the Netherlands. And the remaining forests (including some protected forests) are being threatened by deforestation.

We believe that we can help our world by planting trees and building forests. As a result, we reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, help to restore water management, provide more biodiversity for ecosystems and food, rest and cover for animals and insects. In addition, trees stop erosion and the dehydration of the earth.

In order to become completely CO2 neutral, Recypack will build this forest. A forest that you can visit and which you support by doing business with us.

In this brochure you can read all about the Recypack forest. We call this ‘The Green Core’ of Recypack.

What you should know about the Recypack forest

Recypack is growing a forest. Not for commercial purposes, but for nature. This means that trees will be selected based on their ability to support and sustain the biodiversity of the region. The forest will also be a place to shelter and nurture local flora and fauna. In addition, the forest will be grown with indigenous tree species of the region which will support and contribute to stimulating and strengthening the environment.

Trees give life.What is generally not realized is that trees contribute to and maintain many more of earth’s ecosystems, such as: water, carbon, nitrogen and nutrient cycles; watershed management; biodiversity; and soil health.

Thank you for your donation!Once a quarter with your order, above € 495, -, you automatically donate a tree to The Green Core Foundation. This will be planted on your behalf in our special Recypack forest. Each tree donated by you contributes to our goal of being able to deliver CO2 neutral services to you. We are doing business with a clear con-science!

Every tree you donate to the Green Core Foundation is registered in your name and linked to your order number and is therefore traceable. With this brochure you receive a tree plant certificate as proof of your donation.

Is it possible to visit the forest?Yes! Maybe not directly but at the end you may. The Recypack forest is free-ly accessible, so you can always visit it to enjoy the extra piece of nature that has been made possible thanks to your donation. The forest will be designed as a habitat for wild life and will be open for the public. You will be informed when your tree is planted as a part of a planted tree batch. You will also receive a map with the location of your planted tree. And are free to visit the marked spot on the map where your donated tree will be planted.

Where will the forest be planted?We aim to plant many forests but for now the first forest will be realized in 2018 in Western Europe. We are currently in the acquisition process for purchasing a piece of land for the forest either in France, Germany or Scotland.

Will my tree become 60 years old?To build a forest you need many trees. And to get an adult forest with around 600 adult trees per hectare we have to plant about 2.500/3.000 trees. As part of maintaining a healthy forest it is neces-sary to cut some trees to allow neighbor trees to grow better.

Does Recypack also donate trees? Yes!Recypack will reserve a significant part of its profit after interest and before tax to invest in The Green Core project. In addition, Recypack is going to be CO2 neutral by implementing a series of policy changes. This includes planting trees. Every planted tree contributes to CO2 reduction.

When will my donated tree be planted?Based on the number of donations we make an inventory of how many trees should be planted. The tree planting season starts in November. The forest is visited several times a year by proj-ect supervisors. To review the progress and ensure that your donation has been planted.

About your donated tree

Our goal is to work with as many as pos-sible volunteers. They will be supervised by professionals in their field.

The Supervisory Board will monitor whether the objectives are being met. The Supervisory Board is composed of specialists in their field.

The following disciplines will be repre-sented in the Supervisory Board; Forest and Nature Conservation, Fauna and Floramanagement and a Recypack rep-resentative.

The Supervisory Board is assigned with the task of supervising management, advising on strategic matters, authoriz-ing financial statements, and appointing, suspending and discharging members of the management team. The supervisory board meets every 6 months.

How do I know if this forest will be not used as a commercial forest?The land is in private management. The donated trees and the funds made avail-able by Recypack are managed via the The Green Core Foundation.

Upon purchase of the land, the landown-er will be contractually obliged to leave the forest at rest for at least 60 years. In 60 years the intended CO2 compensa-tion will be realized. Of course, interim forest management will take place to realize a healthy forest. This could mean that specific trees need to be cut down because of good forest management. However, this will be determined by an independent expert.

Managing the forest

How much oxygen does a tree provide on a sunny day?

Absorbs 9000 literscarbon dioxide

Provides 200 liters of water and 9000 liters of oxygen per day

The leaves of this tree take up 2.83 m³ fine dust

A beech of 30 meters high absorbs 9000 liters of

carbon dioxide on a sunny day, gives 200 liters of

water and 9000 liters of oxygen! That is equal to the

daily use of oxygen of one person. A hundred-year-

old beech with a leaf area of 1,500 m² can meet the

annual oxygen demand of ten people. In addition,

the leaves of this tree take up another 2.83 m³ fine

dust in the months that the tree is in leaf and can

absorb the same amount of dust after every rain

shower.

Forests provide rain, filter fresh water and hold the

soil. Moreover, they are an important air purifier:

forests retain huge amounts of carbon and supply

We conduct our business with integrity and in an ethical and socially responsible manner. Therefore, we engage in sus-tainable practices to protect our planet’s natural resources for future generations.

Our organization works according to the principles and requirements of the standard ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 26000 quality sys-tems. The ISO certificate confirms the quality that we have as our standard.

In 2010 Recypack signed the sustainability treaty as the first packaging trader. And in 2012, we could provide our entire standard assortment with the FSC label. We con-duct our business with integrity and in an ethical and socially responsible manner. Therefore, we engage in sustainable practices to protect our planet’s natural resources for future generations. Our cardboard products have met the FSC’s stringent criteria to receive FSC® Certification.

Since 2008, a domestic or foreign organization can be considered an ANBI by the Dutch State. This has benefits for us as well as for you. As a public benefit institution (ANBI) there are certain tax advantages in the Netherlands.

An institution can only be an ANBI if at least 90% of the expenditure serves the public benefit.

An ANBI is not allowed to make profit with all its generally useful activities.
