“Thank You Mother India” GalaYoga Gives Back’s ‘Thank You Mother India’ Fundraiser is the annual flagship event of our global campaign. It is a special evening for the Los Angeles yoga community and its supporters to celebrate the year’s accomplishments and recognize the impact of our volunteers, donors and influencers. This 10th Anniversary Gala will feature the presentation of the YGB’s humanitarian Namaste Award to Ms Alanis Morissette. Hosted generously by YogaGlo at its new gorgeous studio in Santa Monica, the evening will include cocktail reception, sit down dinner, live entertainment and silent/live auction for attendees. In addition, proceeds from this event will tremendously assist our programs in India, supporting more than 1000 mothers and children this year.

Yoga Gives Back (YGB) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to empowering underprivileged women and children in India. In 2016, It is estimated that the global yoga industry generated 80 billion dollars and yoga’s popularity continues to grow worldwide. If a fraction of this resource can be redirected to help the poorest communities in India, we can make a difference. Many charitable organizations have emerged in the yoga community, but YGB is a unique cause that specifically focuses on supporting struggling mothers and children in India.

Once a year, the global yoga community unites to celebrate the spirit of giving back.

The YGB Namaste AwardThe YGB Namaste Award is a tribute to a visionary who has inspired the global yoga community with her dedication to practice and tradition. In addition, this individual has committed herself to humanitarian causes to make this world a better place. We are proud to honor Alanis Morissette as the recipient of the 2017 YGB Namaste Award.

Ms. Morissette is most well-known for her autobiographical songwriting and passionate performances, as well as her evocative and engaging articles, interviews, and public speaking. She emerged internationally in 1995 with the release of her album, Jagged Little Pill and has gone on to become one of the premiere singer-songwriter-musicians in contemporary music. Her deeply expressive, personal music and performances have earned the seven-time Grammy Award winner vast critical praise, a multitude of international awards and a dedicated fan base that extends throughout the world. Ms. Morissette is also an actor who has performed in several films, television shows and in the theatre. A dedicated charitable activist, she has supported numerous causes that focus on empowerment, art, psychological and spiritual healing, relationships and environmental causes, earning her a Global Tolerance Award from the United Nations. Ms. Morissette is a teacher, friend, artist, wife, mother, comedienne, activist, spiritual leader and voice for her generation. She is married to Souleye and together they have two children.
