Daily Morning Prayer: Rite One BCP, pp. 39-41The Officiant begins the service with these sentences of ScriptureGrace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:2

The Confession of Sin BCP, p. 41-42Officiant: Let us humbly confess our sins unto Almighty God.Almighty and most merciful Father,we have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep, we have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts,we have offended against thy holy laws,we have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us,spare thou those who confess their faults, restore thou those who are penitent, according to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord;and grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

The Priest alone stands and saysThe Almighty and merciful Lord grant you absolution and remission of all your sins, true repentance, amendment of life, and the grace andconsolation of his Holy Spirit. Amen

The Invitatory All standOfficiant O Lord, open thou our lips.People And our mouth shall show forth thy praise.Officiant and PeopleGlory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia

Psalm 89:1-4; 15-181. From age to age I will proclaim your faith, Forever sing your love;Your faithfulness endures always, Your love is set in heaven above.2. “To David I have sworn an oath; Made covenant with him alone:‘I will maintain your line always, Eternally preserve your throne.”3. How blest are those who shout your praise! They walk, Lord, always in your light; They glory daily in your Name, rejoice forever in your right.4. You are the glory of their strength; our might is by your grace restored; Our King is Israel’s Holy One; truly, our ruler is the Lord.

The First Lesson: Romans 6:1-11 Ben Harrison6 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore withhim by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newnessof life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We knowthat our old self[a] was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslavedto sin. 7 For one who has died has been set free[b] from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he diedhe died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God inChrist Jesus.Reader: The Word of the Lord.People Thanks be to God.

Canticle: Benedictus, es Domine Anglican Chant: T. Turton

The Second Lesson: Matthew 10:34-42 Martie Hooker34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a managainst his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will bethose of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter morethan me is not worthy of me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will loseit, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.40 “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him whosent me. 41 The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteousperson because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. 42 And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cupof cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”Reader: The Word of the Lord.People Thanks be to God.
