President’s MessageWelcome to the Show!

It’s the 77th year that Canungra and district has staged the annual Show and we are still located where it all began in 1938, the beautiful Canungra Showgrounds.

The local families and businesses who set aside the land in 1918 wanted a community meeting place for sport and recreation and the grounds have remained the place to be for our big events and community gatherings ever since.

The Show this year will feature a full equestrian program, woodchop competition, trade displays, wonderful food, ongoing entertainment , music and fireworks.

But competition is the heart of a show and the Canungra Show is as big or small as the people of our district make it. So this year we hope you and your family will be in the show, displaying that special piece of art work, that wonderful cake, or garment , or plant or photo , putting your best dairy or beef animal through its paces, showing that special pony or miniature goat or fancy ute to an admiring public, or cheering on the axemen.

Livestock exhibitors often describe agricultural shows “as looking over the fence at your neighbours genetics” but for those of us who cook, or paint, or garden, or sew, its more about displaying the skills of the hand and the heart and celebrating the good things in the life of the people of our valleys and mountains.

So I invite you to join us this year. To exhibit with us, to become a supporting member, or join the organising committee itself and make new friends and learn new organisational skills as we develop the show each year.

My sincere thanks go to the people who make the show possible: the Society members, who give so much of their time to the planning and implementation of our events, the dedicated Stewards who come back every year to manage their respective classes, the volunteers who help out on the day with gate sales, parking and clean ups and to our wonderful sponsors, who support CAHIS every year and, through the success of the Show, support the wider Canungra and district community they serve.

Airlie Worrall President 2015Canungra Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Society Inc .

Enjoying the Show? For only $10 you can become a member of the Canungra AH&I Society. Members are invited to social events during the year and receive free entry to the Canungra Show!To join, fill in your details below and return with payment to the Secretary’s Box on Show Day, or post to PO Box 47, Canungra QLD 4275 (membership received on Show Day 2015 will be valid for Canungra Show 2016).
